pillow cases will work fine and half filled with soil in an emergency. Also stuff a pillow down the toilet if getting very bad and weigh down with something heavy to stop drain contents exploding upwarsd into your house

Thanks, Kittie. I was really beginning to worry - the amount of water that is in the grass still in kinda worrying. It isn't draining away. I'm now going to buy a fewValue pillow cases (I think they're only a couple of quid each) and keep them in the cupboard by the back door. If we ever get a very dire flood warning I'll fill them from the garden and can use them.

That's a few more items to add to my list. Cheap pillow-cases and a cheap pillow. I also realised I don't have a broom in the house, merely a small dustpan and brush. Having a proper broom inside could be usefull too, in case of being snowed in OR flooded.

Just realised it's a good job my storecupboard is just above head height!

I was expecting the water in the garden to have dissipated over night - before the next lot of rain arrives today!! - but the grass is still covered. My veg patch is soggy but not under water any more.

It is scary though - if we get the same amount of rain as on Friday there is no where for it to go!

Ordered the Cotton Trader boots!! I feel so prepared! I am trying to get organised as I tend to just float through life without planning for things like weather. Also ordered my Mum some of the walking sandals as they were in the sale too!

I've ordered the Cotton Trader boots (in dark steel, 'cos I got DS1 the black ones last year & the ruby won't go with my work uniform lol) & managed to resist getting anything else.

Seriously tempted by some of the coats in the sale as I need a new one I can wear for work, but again resisted as the ones I liked weren't in 18 in the colours I really liked & I don't want a 16 as I can't layer enough underneath. I did that last year, thought I'd put on loads of weight as the too-short coat I'd got from BHS wouldn't do up at work over my vest, polo shirt & work fleece, but then it did up fine at the weekend over a vest & jumper! Will keep looking in the CSs as then I can try it on & decide if it is the one I really like.

Ordered 10 fleeces from MrT - 2 for each pair of curtains & 2 over, I'm having them delivered as I don't drive & the bus fare would be more than the delivery cost. & Took £4 off with my voucher anyway, so that's made up for the delivery.

I'd got so much last year that will still be good for this year, though I need to go through my list & update it, & of course the boys keep growing so will need some replacement stuff. DS1's feet do seem to have stopped growing for now, so his boots will all be fine.

My welly boots are at work & used by all the staff when needed, so I want another pair this year, & would like some girly ones so I can instantly see which are mine & which are DS1's - made the mistake last year of wearing his to walk the mile to work & couldn't work out why it was so hard till I got there, took them off & realised they were 3 sizes too big!

Thank you to whoever posted about the Next slippers for £6 - I didn't get those but I did find a nice coat for winter very reduced in the sale, then remembered I had a £10 off a £15+ spend online - said it was valid until 31 may but thought i would chance it and low and behold, it accepted the code and I got my winter coat for £15!!!

DD2 will need a winter coat - DD1 will have DD2s one from last year :)

just thought i'd give everyone the heads up for checking sports direct for their 90% off clothing sale

yes, they usually have stuff on major clearance but at this particular time they have a lot of winter gear including gloves, thermal leggings, fleeces etc

i just got a delivery i ordered last week and my daughter is chuffed to bits with this jacket i got her for autumn/spring http://www.sportsdirect.com/miss-posh-corduroy-jacket-ladies-669411 this is unlined and it's patchwork so it's a tad rough edged on the inside but with a long sleeved shirt it's fine and looks very stylish

i also bought her this coat http://www.sportsdirect.com/outline-fur-denim-jacket-ladies-669407 this goes to just above her knees (she's just shy of 5') it's got a quilted puffa style lining and looks warm enough for early winter or if winter isn't too cold it would do all winter as long as she had a fleece top or layers on underneath

they have other jackets suitable for autumn/spring too

they also have several pairs of jeans on the sale as well for only a few quid each

sizes from infant to a 4x in the mens thermal leggings, sizes are a bit hit and miss as these are end of range but worth a look. i'm so pleased with what we got i'm having a second look! postage is £3.99 i know that topcashback is offering 5% so quidco probably has them too

Have just been in primark and they have ladies fleece pjs for £7. They also had the all in one things hung up, lol, one girl was trying one on. I think I'll stick to separates.

Couldn't find kids ones, they had the all in ones but. not fleece.

They had ribbed effect fleece blankets £3 and the really fluffy ones £5.

Think I've got enough fleeces now...
