Oh that's brilliant. I'm just starting out knitting and that looks so complicated!
  • That is singularly beautiful, I am envious of your talent, Cheers Lyn.

That scarf is absolutely beautiful. I'd love to be able to make something like that! Wow!

Well, as far as winter preparations are going I've had to add another thing to the list - flood preps. I'm torn between finding something similar to sandbags or a waterproof draught excluder. Hmm..

Its not complicated at all Fuddle, the wool has loops along it that you knit in plain stitch. You don't even need to cast on, you just put 10 loops onto 4mm needles and knit each loop using the next loop. Then the 'lace' bit sticks out giving the effect.

Byatt, that's how I felt when I saw the white and black one knitted up n the stall where I bought the wool (£6.50, Fleetwood market). Not sure of prices elsewhere, I know my local wool shops don't keep this wool and I've just had a squizz on ebay and its more expensive there. But very easy to knit.

Thats lovely! Am so tempted by the boots too.

Not really winter related, but my mil has called she has got us the next carseat for DS from morrisons just £27. It's a graco high back booster from 15kg which I don't think he quite is yet, but it won't be long before he's ready. He's still in a 5 pointer, which I'd like to keep as long as poss, as I do think they are safer for the correct weight.

Right. I'm having some of those boots...

ETA ordered some of the steel grey ones, will be perfect for work and I can leave a nicer pair of shoes in my locker...
