Preparing for winter III

aren't we suppossed to be battening down the hatches again today/ rest of this week?
I thought it was coming in from the Atlantic so I asked DS3 what it is like out there and he says like a 'mill pond'. But it could be that he was lucky and missed the next storm by being further South.
Lil_me, I may post a new thread on electric airers to find out more.. but I will wait for an answer here first.
How did you miss the Grandmother bit? I did write it really small as I wasn't supposed to tell anyone at that stage. The whole world can know now.
I am starting to think how they will get on with a baby up here, in the Winter, if power continues to go off as it does when we have severe storms.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

bit of rain tomorrow and sunny for the rest of the week temps 8/9 degrees, it will suit me
Waiting on my roofer to repair a leak but after the storms I'm thinking there are people worse off then me that need his time so happy to wait until next week.0 -
ps £10 airer does the same job if positioned near a radiator or nightstore heater in my case, turn it round once and everything dry by morning.1

Today, as all is calm here, we are going to assess damage and try to repair front and back porch doors so they shut and stay shut.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

Hope you get them sorted and did I congratulate you on becoming a grandma, not sure and to tired today to look back so congratulations I have 3 and adore being one.
Here raining again, how unusual not! When we first moved here nigh on 20 years ago we had a very rain bout and we found that the front path ran down towards the front door and we got flooded a few times. We had to have the path relaid so it runs from front door to street now, it was only a slight slope, you couldn't really tell by the eye but by golly it brought the rain in, so times like this I am so glad that is sorted and back as well as for that the patio is flat the rest of the garden a step hill and then the rain did run away from the house and hit the slabs that are along the base of the hill holding it all in place ( has had a few repairs over the years) but on that side no drains but two beside back of house one where kitchen is and one where downstairs toilet is so we had to have it all relaid so water ran towards drains as when it rained heavily we would end up with a flooded patio and kitchen that just came up to back door and come over the step as for some reason there had been put big concrete collars round the drains that stood about 6 ins above them. I have always wondered how the previous family managed, we are second family here since it was built in 1932 they must have been flooded out regularly.
What has this got to do with winter preps nothing I guess just rambling on :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

Congrats Poohbear I missed your news too:beer:
Lil-me have you checked that things aren't being left on charge? I'm trying to cut down on things being left for a long time, going back to check after about 30mins and in most cases I'm finding that's enough. I've even taken to switching the micro off after tea and find that I don't usually need it until the next teatime. (The hob ignition is on the same socket so I switch that off too. Don't know if I'm saving much but tell myself that every bit helps...:o)The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

80% chance ie 20% no chance (as I said) and date is flexible 10+ for several days. I for one will be very grateful if it doesn`t happen. However if you don`t want to think about it ie not worry, then it is simple, I`ll just keep what I find out to myself. Just let me know rachbcHe did say mild most of the month so that aspect of being correct will suit me fine as I made arrangements to suit
I am loving the warm weather just now, riding my bike and exploring the lovely area where I live, just pottering along with dh. Yesterday spent weeding and spreading compost on the allotment so it all looks very tidy. I do hope we get at least a week of cold though, it just isn`t natural0 -

Very mild here, very odd. Yesterday was 8C heatwave! Wish to god I had the energy to go out and sort the garden.0
