Preparing for winter III

Please keep the weather predictions coming Kitty, better to be prepared and not have it happen than not to know at all and get caught out. We are as I type having new porch glass and fittings put in and hopefully with the double galzing we shall be much warmer whenever it does decide to turn cold.0

80% chance ie 20% no chance (as I said) and date is flexible 10+ for several days. I for one will be very grateful if it doesn`t happen. However if you don`t want to think about it ie not worry, then it is simple, I`ll just keep what I find out to myself. Just let me know rachbc
He did say mild most of the month so that aspect of being correct will suit me fine as I made arrangements to suit
Huh? Where did I say I didn't want to think about it or didn't want you to post? I was just checking what had been said as wasn't sure due to the somewhat crypic natural of the posts. If it is as bad as you fear then yes obviously I too hope it doesn't happen. Have so say though I for one would have loved some of the predicted snow....I had everything ready for that - less so for high winds - though we have moved the bbq and garden stuff into the shed!People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

I really can't decide whether I want snow or not. The winds blew off part of our neighbours roof and as a result our cottage has water damage where it came into our house. So no matter what I don't want winds. I am not sure if it will be covered by insurance.
Two Winters ago I was snowed in for 6 weeks!! Living with 5 men. It wasn't much fun. But now I think I would like snow so that I have the chance of getting some skiers using our business.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

I am loving the warm weather just now, riding my bike and exploring the lovely area where I live, just pottering along with dh. Yesterday spent weeding and spreading compost on the allotment so it all looks very tidy. I do hope we get at least a week of cold though, it just isn`t natural
Kittie please carry on posting I really appreciate, as do others, what you say.0 -
I dont know about snow, but some seasonal coldness wouldnt go amiss, frosty mornings are great to walk lurchers in - even if its only that you dont pick up so much mud on the way round!0

Lifted from Netweathers site:-
Into next week, Atlantic systems will start to push in from the west, but at the same time cold continental air will be spreading into central and western Europe from the east as high pressure extends out of Siberia into Scandinavia, and yes, this cold air will engage in battle with the Atlantic systems. It's too early to say whether the main "battle zone" will be close to the British Isles or a fair way out to the east- this will determine whether most of the precipitation we get will be rain or snow- so stay tuned for future updates.
So we may get it - snow that is - but it depends on how the 'battle zone' is going to 'pan out'. It is getting colder and more so as we go into the weekend and we have had snow quite a bit in the ast during January and February = even if it is just a fluttering of it!Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:

The following link is very worth reading but take it slowly, word by word as he does jump about. Something is still afoot. Thanks mrs LW, that is what it is all about, being prepared for what might happen but with fingers crossed that it doesn`t

It has been such a glorious day here, even raising the tank temperature to the 30s (solar panels) and I have been busy all day making sure that my 40 strawberry plants are nice and snug in newly filled troughs. Best of all I found a white feather and I know where that came from0 -
Kittie thanks for that, my head nay explode but I enjoyed reading it. For me with the little chart knowledge I have, the north east where I live probably has most chance of snow 20/21st to 25th of Jan, but like you say it's always a chance of clearing. I'm with you 110% on the be prepared. Like last night I'd had it on my calendar for a while for the high winds that came so most things I secured yesterday morning. My Dad doesn't live in a remote area, it's under a mile from a main road but due to the access being a private untended (by landlord) track, he was stranded for about a month last year so as he and his partner both require serious levels of medication to stay alive it's vital I remain prepared (I've got vehicles equipt to deal with it) and my father is to stock up on medication. I think we can all cope with most things if we're prepared enough.
Gas usage is coming down by half, still haven't found the culprit.
Electric is something I try with but due to keeping lizards and my partners hobbies all needing electricity (welding, RC stuff etc) I've not got much hope
Ok as cold snap is coming this weekend think I'll go make sure there is gloves for everyone, coats are clean & sofa blankets are clean before my meetingOne day I might be more organised...........

Kittie a white feather is a lovely gift
I hope we get some snow, winter isn't winter without it. But I'm very sure we will .
We had a very windy wild night here last night.0
