Well done you, Singlestep, on your food budget - keep it up and you will really see a difference and eat more healthily too
It was white everywhere this morning, rooftops, cars, grass and fields were looking very wintery indeed. I am starting my Spring cleaning in earnest at the moment. We had the glass lightshades down from the pendants yesterday and washed all of those and put them back up and I have blitzed through the house today. Problem is though that it's not great weather for drying the clothes although I did get the bedding half dry which meant less time in the tumble dryer
Had a cup of tea and watched a repeat of How Clean Is Your House - it's at times like those that I feel my home is a palace in comparisson :rotfl:Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:

Well I can quite safely say 2012 is no better yet! Part of my winter prep was to reseal the silicon around the shower/bath, however the OH decided it didn't need to be done :wall: ! Last night while watching the tv we both heard this crackling sound, so the investigation began... and there was water coming through the ceiling in the kitchen!!!:eek: right under where the bathroom is upstairs! I ran upstairs, no water on the floor, which made me very confused..we pulled the side off the bath (which was easier said than done!) and underneath was completely soaked, it was swimming :eek:!! The water had got down the side of the bath where it needed resealing, and then gone under the bath and straight through the floor on the ceiling of downstairs. Which also meant the electrics were basically swimming in water!!:eek::eek:
So that was a wake up call! Thought the ceiling was going to collapse!
Everything's fine now, sealed it this morning, should be okay. :T
And had a VERY rude encounter in Mr T's but nevermind.
Hope you're all well, looks to be cold over the next few days, so stay warm and safe!Anchor yourself to the foundations of everything you love.

Oh smeeth that is awful and a big wake up call for me as some of the silicon round my bath has gone, not much as yet but I bought the silicone to replace it months ago and all its done is sit in the bathroom unused since. Methinks tomorrow I will put it on. Here temp is -1 which I don't mind, just what we need a nice cold snap to kill off those bugs but the poor plants that have started coming through might not fare to well. I got 1dz strawberry plants today ( part of a fruit garden I should have received a few months ago, so will have to try and get them in the ground tomorrow and cover them over with straw I have been keeping for them before it gets any colder.
Stay warm folksNeed to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

WooHoo got my frosty morning - it got down to -2 here in south Hampshire last night. The Lurcher took one look out of the kitchen door this morning and bolted on to the lawn and rolled and rolled and rolled, silly aminal - he came back in covered and almost white and given he is black normally I couldnt stop laughing. Looks like all the winter prep is worth it after all! Have a good one folks. Cheers Lyn.0

we also had a hard frost last night, looked really pretty this morning
i think the neighbour has her heat jacked up really high again, despite it getting progressively colder for the last 3 days it has remained 18C in here minimum even with only the hall heater on on the lower end of medium. yay for that!
also did anyone catch in martins newsletter that prices are dropping for electricity? (i think possibly gas too, i don't have it so didn't look that closely) npower is even lowering capped rates so i'll get a discount too :T0 -
Just finished the last layer of sealer around the bath! There shall be no more leaks now! If you haven't done yours, check it and do it please, don't want any of you having the same worry as me the other night.. thoughts of fires, floods and collapsed ceilings do not help your blood pressure!
Woke up to a very thick frost this morning and 10hours later it was still there when I got back from work, even the little pile of it that I had scraped off my car was still there, so it obviously didn't warm up much today!
Hope you're all warm safe and happy:D
