Kittie keep a close eye on your finger. This happened to my late mother and we had to rush her to a jewellers early one Saturday morning to get her ring cut off - it suddenly went tighter and frightened her. Hers had been on a similar length of time to yours. She was only without it for a week as the jeweller made it bigger for her.

Oh thanks fervent, I know deep down that is what I should do and I`ll do it
  • . It's the thermal undies that are doing it, I reckon. And they are not coming off. Not till spring has arrived. Nope.

I always suffer with static from fleecy clothes but really suffer when it's frosty/snowy, I had an acrylic jumper on yesterday for about an hour before the shocks drove me crazy and I had to change......I've got very fine hair too so it makes it stand on end......whilst I love the cold and frosty mornings I could do without the static.

When you get static on clothes get a wire - must be fully wire - and rub it all over the clothes and this should discharge the static without the fireworks or pain. I get it a lot from clothes and this works and contemplating taking the coat hanger with me when shopping as 9 times out of 10 I get shocks from shopping trolleys that really hurt. I usually rub the clothes with the hanger before I put them on and that sorts them, but if not do it when wearing them, you will be safe holding the hanger while you are doing it, if you are worried wrap where you are holding hanger with a rubber glove to insulate yourself.

Hahahaha! I have four pairs at least (can't remember, may go and do a count). I promise you I do not have the pair I am currently wearing welded on.

Isn't it true that at some time in the past in some parts of the country people were sewn into their undies all winter? It doesn't bear thinking about, does it?

Didn't people used to sew themselves in to their underwear in the winter? I know it was mentioned in Goodnight Mr Tom.

Thanks fervent, I let it rest for a few days and decided to get to a jewellers today but my heart was thumping. I had one last go this morning, using my home grown sliced and flexible frozen runner beans. Hand elevated and cooled for 15 minutes, hair conditioner slathered on and turning and turning, little by little I got to the joint and it all turned white . Hands shaking now and turning and pulling and hurting a lot. It came off!!! a ring to fit a little 22 year old. I don`t know how I managed it. I am resting my finger for a few weeks now while I decide what to do. It is about .5 cm wide and I sleep with hands curled so every night it was pushing into my finger joint without me realising. Biggest mistake of my life was not testing the fit over the years. I am so grateful that I didn`t have to have it cut off

I still went on the bus though and bought the bargain of a lifetime. A £325 beautiful, brand new, mostly wool, the best ever, soft, duffle coat in red with a tartan soft lining. A little part was faulty but I can fix it and it cost me £75. I have been wanting a coat for ages and it was like fate
