Remember when we were moaning about the mild weather and how unseasonal it was? I for one am very pleased to have it back (although it is 'breezy' today) Going to get a batch of what I call 'dark heavies' (jeans etc) on the line, hopefully they'll dry quickly.:)

I put my washing out about half an hour ago, and guess what? The dark clouds are now hovering overhead :(

ruh roh shaggy! you've upset the weather gods, they will now demand you clean washing as a sacrafice:p

the sun is splitting the heavens and i'm fighting the urge to do washing to put on the line because i know we would suffer the same fate (plus the living room storage heater is on and i can dry them there without going into the cold :rotfl:)

Apart from pretty violent winds the north east has been like spring too, no white stuff (2 shovels & six sacks of rocksalt still sat unopened) for some reason our ga usage is still excessive, yet the heating seems to be rarely on.

One of my plans (resolutions get broken so I make plans) is to reduce utilities so going to study that closer, track it every day that I remember & see what we're using. If my partner is sneaking things on so he can sit around in shorts I'll linch him!

Kittie I've got friends on US east coast who had no snow until this week, then 15 inches fell overnight.....is that what's on it's way or looking as if it'll clear?

Pooh bear I was 'up your way' on NYE & it was blustery to say the least
One day I might be more organised...........

    * I find all references to scottish weather and how to cope with it, be it an endless source of fascination, hence my peculiar interest in all things Scottish as pertains the fine art of being yourself with sufficient OS and MSE*

I am most interested to discover how my Scottish Brothers and Sisters are managing to deal with weather that I know to be unstable (depending on where you are? sunny one minute, windy the next and so on) which obviously impacts on type of buildings people are living in as well as matters such as driving, overall safety etc. (outdoors skills are probably handy as well??)

Personally if I lived there, you wouldn't find me dead in a house, especially in the Highlands and Islands, without my Lakeland Dry Soon Heated 3 Tier Airer.

Were I to become MSE OS (ala me of course!) I regard the above as absolutely indispensable to doing troublesome laundry.

I'm always fascinated by people down south who get fabulous summers that go on for ever and have Roman remains in their gardens ! :D I so envy you that!
I live high and remote and I have calor gas for cooking and a coal stove for heating, because we get frequent powercuts. I have the said airer and hang clothes onnit in front of the fire overnight.
Swap you a 5 ft snowdrift for a Roman cemetary? :rotfl:

My son bought me a birds box with a camera in for xmas, best gift id say that ive ever received, got my neighbour to help me put it up today, its lovely its tuned in to the tv, weve got a conservatory which is south facing facing, we have sofas and tv etc in ther and it overlooks the whole of the garden, so we have put the box where we had a blue tit in last year ,its nice for hubby to have the tv in there and if a tit do start to build he can then turn the tv on and see it making the nest , having babes, etc so im really hoping that they will take out our low term mortgage rates and move in,.!!.As anyone else evr had a bird cam box ??......Bill Oddie comes to the next village to us a lot and my DIL works in the local shop and he signed her wildlife book for her , how sweet of him............:T

The birds have started to look around at the nesting boxes in the garden the last few days, they always seem to do that just as we get into January...........Ive been outside today cutting some shrubs back etc, its been a nice sunny day, and my garden still has plants out from last year, such as; calendula, shaista daisies, roses, heather, hot lips salvias,I didnt have the usual autumn clear up last October because so much in the garden was still flowering and still is.............In fact the grass could do with a trim , it didnt get it from me today...............I have buds on several honeysuckles, roses, and some shrubs, so the garden think its spring..............
Weve been living off the cupboard stores, and freezers since xmas, only bought fresh milk and bread since xmas, so its been quite a cheap start to the new year, I reckon we can carry on living like this for at least 3 weeks before stocks will run down a bit, so hopefully that will save a few quid........:D:T................Hope your all okay......
