its yucky here too. AM spending the day on the pooter.
  • Very windy here too, the towels went on the line this morning, got rained on a few times, but just brought them in and they are nearly dry!
Trying to come up with a list of things to do while I am off work for a few days.....I am a list girl! Lists for everything!
We are still wading through the leftovers form our Boxing Day buffet, but the end is in sight now....except for the chocolates!

I had to go into work today - it's compulsory on reduced staffing, we get the rest of the time off as long as we put in our faces for a few hours on the alloted date. Today was my day, but luckily we were finished by 2.15pm.

I had not long been home when it came over very dark and it hammered it down with rain. It felt good to stand in the kitchen with a hot mug of tea watching it.

Lidl have loads of bedding on offer from 2nd January, including the microfleece undersheets, quilts, pillows etc. Hope that they've got plenty stock in!
Does anyone else feel like clearing all of the Christmas decs away? I think that it would be nice to start New Year with a clear house... Might start a new tradition... (To be honest, sick of walking around Christmas tree box in bedroom and picking up fallen Christmas cards!)

  • Yes we took our decs down yesterday. I'm not actually a Bah Humbug! But i find once i feel like Christmas is over i just want rid - and wanted to see the new year in with a tidy clean house which i could not dust with all the father Christmas ornaments/soft toys in the way. They ahd been up for 4 weeks so the novelty had worn a little thin.

Going to pop to Aldi at the weekend, to restock the stores. Need a few things like pasta sauce (DS loves their 25p a jar one) and odds and ends. Have quite a lot of meat left from Christmas (ooh reminds me must cut up/portion/freeze the Pork) So the next few weeks it is meal plan a go-go to run the freezer down a bit.

Weather is quite miserable here today, grey and rainy. Never mind hubby finishes work at 1pm, then his job is to pop Xmas decs back in the roof so i can have a gool old tidy up.

Is it sad I'm excited about that? :o

    Have a good one everyone

I managed to get one of the lidl microfiber sheets, we have a deep mattress with a foam topper so went for a king sized sheet (double mattress) and its fab, so stretchy that it fits like a dream. It does say don't use fabric conditioner but after I'd washed it I couldn't touch it for the static, popped it in the airing cupboard hoping to settle it down but it turned everything else static charged too! So it got washed again with fabric conditioner.......super dooper soft and so warm to get into, really seems to help regulate your temperature over night too. Went back on the off chance they might have some left and picked up a very un attractive dark brown one but once it's on the bed it doesn't matter.

Well worth the money if you can find them.

I am not impressed by the Met Office at the moment! On Boxing Day morning they said that the weather was going to turn much colder for New Year. Last night they have said it will be milder, but we were forecast to get a frost - we didn't! They have these multi million pound computer systems and even five days in advance they cannot seem to get it right. I think Billy Connolly had it right - "if you want to know what the weather is doing just look out of the window"!

Alison I took all the cards down yesterday. I am having a fairly big blitz on the housework today and I want to get the washing and ironing up to date as well. Not sure if any of you have heard of the old wives saying of "wash your clothes on New Years Day wash one of your family away". I remember it from years ago from my grandmother and I have never washed anything on New Years Day. I don't think it is true, but I have never wanted to tempt fate! :)

Thanks for that Pooky. I stood and looked at them when they had them a few weeks ago. I have memories of the old 'Brentford Nylon' sheets:eek: Slipping and sliding over the bed and yes, the colours left weren't very nice but think that I'll give them a try... if there are any left when I go! So thanks again for your comments, very helpful.:):T
PS. Pleased to see that I'm not the only one just thinking that Christmas is over and wanting to get tidied up! :)
