  • Morning all ... sorry a bit behind on the thread!

Hope everyone had a wonderful day yesterday and enjoys the rest of the festive season.

I am hoping the bad weather stays away - as Mard says it will make winter shorter (great in my books) - and I'm quite happy not to see more snow as the journeys to work are horrendous and take hours when it does hit.

Also thinking about the savings on the budgets if the supplies aren't needed - I've a month's worth of "emergency" meals that can go into the cupboard to help reduce the grocery bill over the year, as well as loads of cat litter!
    Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
    2016 Sell: £125/£250
    £1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000
    Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000
Debt free & determined to stay that way!

O you always need a stash of food, never let that run completely down. Other things can happen where you might need it!
This was posted on a weather forum, from a guy in Shetland -
    QUOTE
Still really windy here, gusting over 50mph. Electric off in many parts of Shetland, although not here fortunately. Numerous damage reports coming in. Several roofs blown completely off and several partially damaged, garden sheds/greenhouses destroyed, vehicles damaged, caravan destroyed, trailer blown around the main road, and one of the public Christmas Trees in central Lerwick snapped in half.

  • if your on facebook and in scotland have a look at windy wilsons weather and road reports - not long range but certainly keeps you upto date with whats going on!

Is anybody else annoyed at the totally wrong forecasts we got? All about the worst winter yet and snow from late Oct ? I mean I'm not moaning that we didnt get it early -because this way winter seems shorter - but they did all get it wrong!

From what I remember on one of the forums, they spoke of a winter of two halves... mild for the first part and extremely cold and snowy the second half with Feb being the coldest month of all... Having said that, I do also remember them saying snow could be as early as Oct...

I think they are holding out a bit longer before writing it off as a mild winter.

I must admit, I am looking forward to a good dumping of the white stuff as work is usually very quiet in January so I don't have to go anywhere if I don't want to :)

:eek::eek: Scary stuff. Do we have any posters from Shetland? I can't remember. Must be frightening, especially being so remote.

Also, I am really worried about RedDoe who hasn't posted in AGES... I hope she is ok.
