Preparing for winter III

Happy New Year everyone despite the mildness of the weather I have just taken stock of all the stored foods and winter prep items and feel that whatever 2012 decides to invent for our entertainment we'll cope. Hope you all have a super day and stay well and safe.0

It looks like quite a mild month. but windy, for january and 2 storms one towards middle month and one in the last week.A couple of cold spells but nothing too bad really
Only a bit of snow and that is up north as usual. The bugs on my allotment are going to have a whale of a time this month, I even saw a wasp yesterday
I am so flipping dopey today, didn`t sleep well last night inspite of going to bed early because I was so tired. I am going to start juicing the veg again tomorrow, I think it is all the carbs playing havoc
I am going to do a big re-think for next winter, well I won`t need to buy any clothes etc and I`ll have to quarter the silly amount of food that I have in. Ok very money saving indeed but taking up too much room. Lol, well I won`t be spending much at all for at least three months, only need some fruit and eggs. I should be able to stash a bit of money away in a savings account so that is a good thing
The downside to the dreary weather is getting the washing dry cos there are hardly any windows in the coming month, I suppose that I`ll be doing smaller washes regularly, so I can hang indoors. I`ll save the big bedding for the rare bright windows, as they fill the washing lines on their own
A very happy new year to you all0 -
Brace yourselves everyone! The temperature has dropped dramatically here over the last few hours, 2 degrees at the moment and below freezing temperatures forecast for overnight.
Such a shock after the mild weather that most of us have been experiencing. (I think that's why I wanted the decorations down really, it just didn't seem right when it wasn't even chilly, never mind frosty!)
Thanks for all of the good wishes and I wish you all well too.
This might be the the start of the cold weather we've been preparing for... quite pleased really...did I actually say that?:o:)The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

Nah that's not old, wait till your baby is 28 as mine is and oldest is 35 with a nearly 32 year old ( on Valentines Day, not quite how I expected to be spending it as he was over 6 weeks early) then you can start to feel you are getting old.....
Here temp is 2.2 outside have closed bedroom window for first time in weeks as was feeling a tad chilly in here thanks to cold wind blowing in, no heating on and room is 19C....
Stay warm everyone.....Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

That's what my 3 year old grandaughter calls it as she (with Granny's help) plays Ceebeebies games." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

It's SNOWING. Heavily. In Dunblane. Wonder what it's like at home?GC Mar 13 £47.36/£1500

Heavy frost here - no snow on mountains. Quite a change after all the mild weather - will get my bubble wrapped house tested properly perhaps! I think I'm well prepared for the cold and snow and don't mind it at this time of year - unless it stops me getting to the airport to go on my hols!
Don't know anything about hollyhocks but mine are still blooming and lots of buds.Treat the Earth well,It was not given to you by your parents,It was loaned to you by your children.Masai proverb0
