We've got plenty of snow here, just on the eastern edge of the Cheshire plain. It's going to freeze on it too, so the paths will be treacherous!

We are just north of you, but it was not often we had snow that lies till two years ago.

I suspect our council and one next to it will be arguing over who should grit the road as my front garden fence is the border so technically the road outside belongs to different town and most likely that is why its never gritted even though its a main road into the city. Usually street lights on my side of the road are fixed by our city and on other side of the road by the town, but we do about once a month have city road cleaning vans come down and clean the road.

I found my new welli-boots with the silk lined socks kept my feet lovely and warm and the boots seemed to be firm on the snow, but still to see how they deal with ice. I bought a pair of oh mind gone blank - the rubber things with the spikes - to go over my shoes and warm boots, hubby I bought over shoes as putting spikes on and off every time he gets in and out of van is not an option as he has to stick to the allowed time for his route, before he went back to work he thought he would put them on, so asked me where they were, as I had given him them when they arrived and they then vanished into his bedroom, I had no idea, he had a quick look round but had to give up as had to get back to work. I said to him what is the point of me preparing and getting things for him for winter if he puts them away so well he cannot find them. Will make sure he digs them out when he comes home. although I will allow him to eat and drink first, before I nag :rotfl::rotfl:

  • Hello everyone
The over the shoe spike thingies as recommended by thriftkitten arrived today and they are great, thanks for the tip :T
Also delivered today were 40 toilet rolls, 7kg of bread flour and 1kg of rice - much to the amazement of the teenagers filling up the house after being released from school early :p
No snow here thank goodness but pretty cold. Salt on the path tonight I think, then hot spicy soup yum yum.
    Keep warm, safe & snuggly!

I am so happy - for the first time in 10 years my house is warm - with very little heat on - so must have eventually got the heat retaining thing going. Last year I got house insulated and it did make a difference - this year I have bubble wrapped all my windows / doors / cracks in floorboards etc and I have two sets of lined curtains on all the windows - thanks to chari ty shops buys,I am over the moon with how cosy my house is - last year I was crying some days I was so cold. I know so far this winter we have not had the really low temps that we had last year but I just know it's warmer - there is no chill factor in the house now. Stay warm everyone.
