But fleece, apart from being synthetic and possibly getting smellier more quickly, would seem to be the answer to a maidens prayer. Lidl here I come!
I use a fleece as a bottom sheet and top sheet under the duvet. It's very cosy and very warm. An added bonus is that it is very quick to dry. I can put it on a quick wash in the morning, throw it over the hall bannister during the day and it's dry by bedtime!0 -
I bought an extra 4 pints of semi skimmed milk tonight from Sainsbobs and put that in the freezer along with an extra loaf of bread as well. The snow is forecasting to come down as far as Birmingham which is still a little way from us but DH said that it only needs an extra shift and shove with the wind to drop it down further. They are forecasting 60 - 80mph winds so it could come into Northants easily!
DH has told work colleagues I am nothing more than a snow queen (makes a change from a drama one :rotfl:) as I am now on the lookout for snow reports
We are all tickety boo here once the weather really turns in. Still have plenty of soupCat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:

mardatha, we gave up on coal because of my asthma but I will see if we can get any low sulphur coal.
SpikeyHedghehog I am searching for a long, warm, rain resistant coat now. I have many weatherproof jackets and a couple of wool coats but I am need of something warm just for going out to the hens and maybe to the shops. I am awkward as can't have down. Have you looked on ebay. There are a lot on there atm.
I've just had a quick look on ebay, I'm a bit nervous of it reallyso if I do want something off it, usually ask Daddy to watch & get it for me (as he is ebay savvy) and pay him back.
I need to get into town without children so I can have a good browse in the charity shops... But that never seems to happen. I'm at work Mon - Fri & get DS2 from school after work, there are no charity shops in the village he goes to school in & not many in walking distance anyway. Then at the weekends, DS1 sleeps like Rip Van Winkle so I can't rely on him to keep an eye on DS2. And DS2 does need an eye kept on him!
So cold at work this morning, the timer on the heating is playing up so it doesn't do as it should & come on at 7am at 20 degrees so the big playroom is up to the 16 degrees required by HSE for us to work there. It was 10 degrees when I got in at 8.20, which doesn't give us much time to get it warmer before the kids get in. The grassed part of the garden was all iced up, so we can't let the children run around out there. I was fairly ok though, wearing my layers and pulling my coat around me.
DS1 decluttered his clothes by getting rid of his vests before the teenage fashion police arrested him (What did the fashion police say to the teenager? You're under a vest.) They fit me, so yay, I have 5 sleeveless vests & 2 short sleeved ones to add to my layers.0 -

 eel! Thanks for the warning! I'm in northants too, almost level with birmingham... OH is up at 5am tomorrow to get down to Oxford, at least he's not going north I suppose. I'm off work tomorrow, but have to go thurs, fri and Xmas party sat! Fingers crossed!
Car wouldn't start this am. I waited a while and did as Manuel said and managed it in the end. Phew. I used my waiting time to put extra cereal bars, water, and a wind up lantern and the Lush Times in my car's GOOD bag (Get Out Of Dodge aka Bug Out Bag for those interested in survival skills!).
Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. I used MSE advice to reduce my car insurance from 550 to 325!! & paid it off in full!!!0
