you really only need to dampen the glass, i use a wet sponge, wipe the glass then gently press the wrap (bubble sides to window) and smooth it down lightly. make sure you cut it to fit so you don't have a lot of extra sticking out, i find the weight of that often pulls it down

i think perhaps you used too much water, try the sponge technique and see how that goes. if it comes loose midwinter you just need to use the sponge again and pat it back into place

Thanks, i'll dry it all off and give that a go.

my daughter has been sliding into her sleeping bag then getting under the duvet each night too, she likes to start with a lot of covers then kicks off most of them in the night *sighs*

i've been turning the electric blanket on her bed on for an hour before bed, takes the nip off of sliding into the covers, i actually kinda like that feeling but she doesn't so i let her have the blanket.

we're both loving our hot water bottles in bed, it's so lovely to cuddle it to my chest as i nod off, i get both the cool nip AND lovely core warmth, bliss!

we had another hard frost here last night but no more snow though it's in the forecast for tonight, hope we get some soon, my daughter is fit to burst for it :rotfl:

Confuzzled i had to point out the same to my nice neighbour
A HOT WATER BOTTLE AND AN ELECTRIC BLANKET IS A NO NO IF YOU WANT THE WARMTH OF A HOTTIE THEN FOR SAFETY SAKE CONSIDER A GEL PACK VERSION WARM UP IN MICROWAVE MUCH SAFER NO RISK OF GETTING SCOLDED FILLING IT UP EITHER

thank you for your concern, i suppose i didn't make it clear that the electric blanket not only goes OFF before she crawls into bed but i also unplug it (energy saving freak here, plus part of me worries that it might somehow catch fire whilst she's alseep so it def gets unplugged so it can't do that!)

but you are quite right to point out that water and electricity don't mix!

  • Did anyone see the bit on Breakfast this morning about the Red Cross "what you should have in your car"?

Honestly, stuff like your insurance docs and your birth certificate??????
What happens if your car is broken into / your bag stolen - someone would then have your address from the insurance docs, plus your full name, dob, mother's maiden name, place of birth etc - surely leaving you a sitting duck for identity theft!

There were some good ones that many people probably wouldn't think of such as a torch & batteries, whistle etc and they also mentioned things like 3 days supply of food and water .... first aid kit ..... etc etc but no mention of a snow shovel, warm clothing etc?

As I thought - my car which has been getting fixed for last 6 weeks is due to be ready on Friday - and if we get the snow that is forecast I probably won't be able to get it home!!!!
Thought I was well prepared and got groceries delivered last friday along with two really good bottles of wine which were half price - to give as presents - so I was all sorted, but I've already drank the wine!!! Next time I buy bottles of wine as pressies I must remind myself to deliver them immediately!
Brrrrrr - it's sooooo cold and set to get colder. Keep warm everyone.

LOL:D I popped into Home Bar*gains and bought another couple of packs (I was down to 112!);)

Also managed to get a load of Tilda 1kg rice for 99p (6 for DM and 3 for me) - as DM's HB hasn't had it for ages .... should keep us going for a wee while!:o

Bought a few snacky things that I don't usually eat to put into the emergency stash (snickers bars, milky way etc) for a bit of a choc fix and also some for the car as well as some cereal bars so feeling a bit better on that front too!:)

Forgot to click the heating on when I came in (stupid timer can only do a Mon-Fri or Sat-Sun setting and I'm home early on a Weds) and just realised I'm FROZEN..... brrrrrrrr ..... have put it on now but the house is freezing & will take ages to warm up - might need to put the gas fire on for a wee blast of heat!:)
