Preparing for winter III

Welcome LilyMae :wave:0

As I have mentioned several times previously I have been dieting and in need of clothes that fit. Made a trip to the Salvation Army (charity) shop yesterday and found a pair of Eddie Bauer flannel lined blue jeans in my size in good condition so I am well pleased. Paid a little under 5 quid for them-- they cost about 45 quid new-- so even though they aren't new, still a bargain IMHO:)
Also filled the freezer up with 8 marinated pork tenderloin (500 gm each) this week. Not sure what they cost in the UK, but pork tenderloin is an expensive cut here-- usually about 5+ quid for 450-500 gms. These were buy one get another for free, plus on sale (offer) plus doubled coupon (voucher) so I couldn't resist. These are easy to prepare and are plenty for OH and myself-- in fact usually enough for 2 meals for us (or 1 meal plus sandwiches).
I expect to be warm in my new jeans and tummy full of pork this winter:D0 -
Marylin - I havent seen the film but in the book the hotel has massive walk in freezers (nasty scene set there I remember) so I guess the presumption is they had loads of frozen stuff - US has ben ahead of UK in that dept for years.
WHoops Ive shown a weak side of myself yes I do like Stephen King but only in the daylight when Im feeling strong!!!!
I like Stephen King myself and have read most of his books. OH was never a book reader until I got him hooked on SK's "gunslinger series". Now he is making his way through the entire SK library!
I've seen The Shining several times and they had a huge pantry and walk in freezers-- so plenty of food there for them. It may have not been fresh, but they certainly had plenty! We should be so lucky!0 -

Not strictly PfW but my forsythia is flowering  Whats that all about? It should flower early in the year, its the first thing that flowers in my garden and gives me hope that spring is on its way. Weird.0

I drew some strange looks yesterday when out for my daily shuffle (only about 100 feet up the road so far but it's a start:o) with pooch .... I had on my winter fleece with body warmer over, scarf and hat (it's impossible to get warm when you're going so slow!)
I found a pair of new fingerless gloves (purple & white stripes) but TBH I've never seen the attraction of these as find my fingers get just as cold as the rest of my hands.
I gave them a wash with my other gloves so if anyone would like them, I'd be happy to post them (would be the start of next week before I can get someone to take them to the post office). PM me if you're interested (first come, first served;)).Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
