I moved into a new house 6 weeks ago and recently checked the radiators out, i went to bleed them all, the 2 in the lounge made no hissing noise so i assumed it was fine yet they hardly heat up at all, any ideas?
Hi,
I had two radiators that didn't heat up and I looked on a DIY website. The pins were sticking inside the valve, I had to remove the valve, tap the little pins (gently) with a hammer which made them pop out and put WD40 on them so they no longer stick....then replace valve.
Hope this helps.LBM March 2011 - [STRIKE]Joint Debt £46k[/STRIKE]Current Personal Debt £0 :jGroceries £152.51/230,Pot Balance £1564.02Christmas Savings £200, £2 savings £240 -

I'd never heard of these before but last winter myself and my daughter used our boobtube's we already had from summer to do the same job. Worked a treat!!!0 -
Decided when we were out camping last weekend (therefore freezing) that we would get our open fireplace up and running as it has never been used in the 13 years we've lived here and had a gas fire in front of it when we moved in. Booked the sweep this morning to clean chimney and do safety check so fingers crossed we will have a fire in a couple of weeks. Still need to put down a hearth which will be sorted next week when DH is off work and got a basket ready to save newspapers in for the fire.
Every day this week I've been eyeing the fireplace wishing we had a fire going.
Got the draught excluders out of storage, they are the double type that slide under and move with the door (not a sausage dog) and central heating went on for the first time today so we are warm. Kids had hot water bottles last night, think they'll be sweating tonight lol
Will have to slowly get other bits and pieces we need as money is tight, next on the list are thermals for me.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0 -

I'm a bit of a candle freak - esp smelly ones. I love Yankkee but find if you need a longer lasting smell use the wax tarts. I have a sweet pea one in my holder for the past 5 weeks & its still burning lovely! I have it on every day & if I'm in all day its on then. I go though a lot of tealights!
I got 10 of them off Ebay for £7 with free P&P & they're about £1 each in a Yankee store) must keep away from the Yankee store in Chester on Friday!)
But everytime a Glade/Airwick is on offer I buy one. Coop have one for £1.96 but I have resisted buying one - as I have 12 ready in the cupboard for winter!
I remember last year when the snow was heavy, kids off school & DH home I lit one & it was lovely & romantic!
