Glad Poppy is doing better - I bet she is loving it in the airing cupboard - all dark and warm!!! Wish I could do that in winter
Re the washing :rotfl: No!!! It will freeze solid be be able to stand up on its ownThen you will have to wrestle it off the line and bring it in to defrost
Oh Blimming Heck - I really must NOT skim read:o:o I thought you were asking if it would freeze at minus -10 to -15
:o:o
The proper answer is if the pavements/patio slabs are dry/drying, then the washing will tooI learned that tip from someone on here but I can't remember who.
I am off to hide with embarrassment now

guess what! poppy is doing better already! she even ate this morningher breathing is much less noisy
so im leaving her in the snuggly warm airing cupboard i think for the entire winter.
Ohhh that's great news Chirpy!:Dchirpychick wrote: »Another question - will my washing dry on the washing line when its 10-15 degrees outside?
I had mine out at around 5 deg yesterday (towels) but it was really windy which I think stopped it going to hard - 1/2 an hour on the radiators last night and it was fine.
I'm debating whether it's worth putting it out today as it's only 5.4 deg:eek: but no wind so a bit worried it'll be brick hard.....Re the washing :rotfl: No!!! It will freeze solid be be able to stand up on its ownThen you will have to wrestle it off the line and bring it in to defrost

Do you think we should focus on getting our windows replaced first? we live in north hants so although we have had a lot of snow the past 2 years its not like we are in scotland.
...
can you remind me what size primarks all in ones go upto? MIL has offered to get me some for christmas and i know i asked before but i cant find the replies.
Maybe let it be known you would love a spade for Christmas?! They aren't terribly expensive to the point I'd feel odd asking and then your family can enjoy knowing you'll be safe, plus frees up your money for windows!:A Thanks to all the lovely people who contribute their advice! :A0 -
protective doormat/runner for the hallway and kitchen.. where is best to get them of a decent quality? The plastic clear stuff was on ebay but the reviews were awfu.. ditto Amazon.. I am not averse to a carpetty runner type thing.. recommend me something!!
I recently bought a rubber backed carpet for my kitchen (£16) and a rubber backed runner for the hall (£10) from Ikea. I also bought one of those plastic runners to protect the hall runner from wet snow and mud from Wilkinsons (£5).Smiles are as perfect a gift as hugs...

chirpychick, great news about Poppy.
It’s already Thursday and my week off is rapidly disappearing. None of my plans are really working out well.
I’d told myself I’d be cooking something different every day and freezing at least three portions of everything ... not done. I’ve still not gone shopping for coat/shoes. I still have work planning and prep to do and still my ‘homework’ for my evening class tonight. I was going to go out this morning but ended up staying in my bed as I was just too cold to get out when I didn’t have to. I’ve taken an extra hour than normal every day this week and I feel so much better getting up when it’s not dark.
I did have the family over at the weekend and ended up making: leek and potato soup; chilli con carne and cottage pie. I bought dessert as I haven’t ventured in to baking yet due to my aversion to butter and eggs. Much less expensive than last time and it must have been edible as I had only bits and pieces left over in spite of thinking I’d made enough of each of the main courses for at least eight full-sized portions. So it went better than I thought but I really don’t enjoy cooking! I had emergency standbys in case of disaster but I’ve managed to put most of this in mum’s freezer and she’ll be able to use these for unexpected guests or closer to Christmas.
Apart from all of that, I’ve caught up with my godson and his mum (spent a fortune in doing so but budgeted for and we had a lot of fun), sorted through my summer stuff and put things away/cleared out as appropriate and made up some new photo albums. I’ve had my mad pre-winter clean, too. I tried to book my flu jab but the practice nurse was on holiday this week too.
Tomorrow, I’m going to do a big shop for my mum, do a little Christmas shopping and get a pedicure with some vouchers I was given. I think on Saturday, I’ll stay in and do something on the slow cooker and try to do a few hours of work (avoiding the shops when they’re too busy for me to cope with for a second week in a row) and brave the shops on Sunday.0 -

whilst in ASDA last night they were offering people the flue jab,not sure on the cost,
well i have finally got the garden finished, manged to get two lovely long thick woolen scarfs from the flea market last night also some books nothing like curling up on the sofa when its cold with a good book and a cup of hot chocolate, still haven't found any rugs so looks like i shall have to buy new ones.
Anyone know were you can bags of salt from?
cant remember who posted the tip on asking wood places for sawdust but i have found one local who was willing to drop a few bags off in the end they dropped 10 large bags off so i think i am well stocked for a while.
