I'm getting stingy in my old age ... been having a look for warm pjs on e*bay etc and really struggling to pay the price some people are asking (at around £10):o
Think I'll have to bite the bullet and go for it though as ended up going to bed with my jogging bottoms and jumper on last night.
It's supposed to warm up by the end of the week but, if it doesn't I think I'll have to dig out the 7 tog duvet:eek:Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250
£1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000
Debt free & determined to stay that way!0 -
Must have been a hard frost here last night as it was still patchy when we walked to school. Temp has dropped like a stone the last 2 days. Although my thermostat is set to low, it kicked in this morning  Most of the individual rad thermostats are set to the lowest setting so only DDs one came on, and the hallway. Might turn them down a bit as DDs room was very warm and she had rosy red cheeks when she got out of bed
Must get more porridge in - DD1 loves a bowlful before bed which must keep her nice and snuggly - she seems to be sleeping better for it too.
Need to call coal merchant and get cheaper coal - someone asked if I am getting it from a garage... Answer = Yes
Got my flu jab this morning  From past experience that means an achy arm for the next 2 daysBetter than flu tho!!!
My priority job for today is to stop the water supply to the outside tap and drain it and put some lagging round the infamous pipe to the WM that freezes  Not sure what good it will do at -10+ but worth a try.0 -
I also caved in this morning - but only cos my 3 yr old DS has a bit of a cold & is off school. Only for 45 mins though then it went off!
Last night I packed the kids to bed with hot water bottles (again!) & wrapped up with my bottle & blanket watching Kirty Allsop on Ch4. I was all warm & toasty.0 -
I think I posted on another thread some time ago: I had a really cheap duvet that was flat as a pancake, so I cut it up and used it to interline the bedroom curtains. I'm reaping the rewards now and noticing the difference, nice and toasty.Normal people worry me.0

Good morning
guess what! poppy is doing better already! she even ate this morningher breathing is much less noisy
so im leaving her in the snuggly warm airing cupboard i think for the entire winter.
The temp in my living room this morning is 15!
I can still feel that draught coming from somewhere.
I got 3 free soups today so im having a nice chunky soup and rolls for lunch.
Im feeling very positive today and im going to get on and do as much as i can today.
Another question - will my washing dry on the washing line when its 10-15 degrees outside?Everything is always better after a cup of tea0 -
I have just turned my heating on for the first time. Have been ok up until now but just cant get warm today. Still need OH to put up curtain poles in kitchen and then house will be totally shut away from the cold weather outside
Right i am off to see if all radiators are still working and dont need sorting - i did check a few months ago but as i think i will be needing them from now on i best check

Glad Poppy is doing better - I bet she is loving it in the airing cupboard - all dark and warm!!! Wish I could do that in winter
Re the washing :rotfl: No!!! It will freeze solid be be able to stand up on its ownThen you will have to wrestle it off the line and bring it in to defrost
Oh Blimming Heck - I really must NOT skim read:o:o I thought you were asking if it would freeze at minus -10 to -15
:o:o
The proper answer is if the pavements/patio slabs are dry/drying, then the washing will tooI learned that tip from someone on here but I can't remember who.
I am off to hide with embarrassment now0 -
Well I drove up to get my flu jab and the nurse asked why we were doing it... "Because I don't want flu" I said, confused... She went on to tell me that I wasn't able to have it because I am not high priority  I understand why some people need it more than others and those people should get it first but why on earth didn't they ask me when I called to book it???
She told me I could go and pay for one at sainsburys... off I trot to sainsburys... managed to find DDs some PE pumps (been looking for ages for their size) and new school skirt for DD2 who is now in clothes a year/size older than her twin  a few bargainous tops for them and a Basics stick blender... Grand sum of £27  Swiped my nectar card and it asked me if I want to redeem vouchers.... Good idea I think and knocked off £5, then another, and another..... Finally I paid 13p for my shopping.... cash :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Then!!! The awkward moment when you wonder why the man opposite you is staring... Then realise its your son :o:o I really need to get my eyes tested
So I get to the sainburys pharmacy - long queue as ever - they don't do flu jabs
I'm giving up today and going back to bed I think
Sorry, wandered a bit OT there0 -
Work have just had offices refurbished so we have two back doors wide open whilst things get removed.....
Freezing!! And I've been in leggings with boots instead of tights all week already, and that's in Central London :eek:Credit Card & Overdraft Debts Jan 2012: £16,000+ [STRIKE] Credit Card & Overdraft Debts Sep 2013: £13,023 [/STRIKE]

We didn't realise how much heat (& noise) they let out/in. Now we have stuffed them with removable folded papertowels and clear sellotaped over them, then rescrewed the covers on. Perfectly draft free and amazingly quiet!:A Thanks to all the lovely people who contribute their advice! :A0
