Guess Who? I hope you are recovering both emotionally and physically and you are receiving all the support you need. Take things gently and look after your self. Huge hugs and love.
The idea that it is human nature to judge others is so wrong for so many reasons, that has really shocked and saddened me that someone could possible think that is normal human behaviour.0 -
I hope you are recovering well Guess Who, take care x0

It is not for us to 'judge' if the right or wrong thing is being done, merely to offer support and advice even if we may disagree.
The reasons behind a termination when advice is being sought (or an update given to those who wished for one), should be neither here nor there. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
I hope you are ok, I know the emotional relief you feel but take each day as it comes and there are great places now to go and talk, maybe in a few months or a few years.
Hugs xxx0 -
Just bringing this thread back to the top to update one last time, I was the OP using the name 'Guess who'
I received a lot of support from the forum at the time of posting this and the previous thread, bits of which were deleted, and as the anniversary approaches I wanted to now put it behind me so to speak.
A brief recap, we found out at the 13 week scan our baby had a condition called Edwards syndrome which is a chromosome abnormality. We took the decision to terminate.
In the days and weeks after the abortion I felt fine about everything, I had moments of upset obviously but felt I had moved on. We tried for another pregnancy straight away and I fell pregnant over the christmas/new year holiday. At our first scan we were told baby also had a soft marker for chromosome abnormalities, this time there was only one rather than the 2 we had previously however like last time baby only had 1 artery in the cord rather than the 'normal' 2. We decided to wait a couple of weeks for a re-scan so we could determine if there were any further signs of problems, during that wait we decided to have an amnio as it felt like too much to have hanging over us.
The amnio showed we were clear of the 'major' problems but would still ned further scans later on in the pregnancy to check for 'minor' ones.
Towards the end of the pregnancy we were given growth scans which showed baby was small, he had gone from the 79th centile for growth to the 18th. They decided to re scan after 4 weeks putting us at 38 weeks by this point. At the next appointment baby was caught up but with some discussion the consultant agreed to induce on my due date.
The induction was full of worry as his heartbeat was showing signs of distress but thankfully a healthy little boy was born on sept 20th.
I wanted to share my story as im sure someone at some point may stumble across this thread and wonder what happened, in my situation I feel i rushed getting into another pregnancy and i certainly hadnt moved on from the termination. I wasnt offered any kind of counselling and in hindsight I wish someone had stepped in and forced me to go for some rather than taking me at my word that i was ok.
Thank you again to everyone who sent me pms at the time and who offered their advice on the thread, it helped alot to talk to strangers on a forum rather than anyone in real life !Bow Ties ARE cool "Just because you are offended, doesnt mean you are right" Ricky Gervais0 -
