I had a natural miss carriage at 14 weeks and i would imagine the effects would be simular. It was pretty painful- not on the level of labour pains obviously, but much much worse than period pains. There was alot of blood and I felt awful. I would bank on being off work in bed for 2-3 days and being sore for the rest of the week.

Definately talk things over with the doctor, its a difficult horrible decision to make. I have been pregnant 7 times in 12 years-4 lovely kids and 3 horrid losses, it is hard on your body, and also mentally. But with your partners support you will get through it.

  • Thanks summerday, I will reply in a bit.

I asked my questions and the consultant put my mind at east regarding the pill method of abortion. I didnt press him to change to a surgical, I may regret that decision but I felt happy with his advice.

I've had the first hormone tablet and im quite uncomfortable, will return Friday and have been advised we will be in a side room so can have some privacy at least.

Todays appt was easier than I had thought it would be so feeling a little more positive, the care I received today was great.

so glad you got some answers and reassurance. In my experience (personal and professional) the care most women receive has always been exemplary with staff very caring and reassuring. I hope the next few days are ok -if you feel able please come back and post your story as I think it could be very useful for people seeking information in the future.

Glad it's all over, it's sounds like a difficult experience. For the next few days take it easy and get lots of rest.
