Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that he's being difficult. I hoped he was going to be sensible and dignified but some people cannot do that.

Not that I want to wish your life away for you but have you heard about that thing people do with squared paper and they colour in one square for each 1% or £10 or whatever of debt that they achieve. Well you could try doing that with days in the office - to help you realise that every day you get through is another day closer to getting out.
Have you got a firm date for your last day? And have you taken any outstanding holiday into account when negotiating it?

And yes of course, make your life simpler. Buying a few healthy things from your local Mr T's will help you mentally and only be a little more expensive. Also consider a pot of low fat soft cheese in the fridge and some oatcakes or crispbreads in your desk, and possibly a decent tin of soup, which will make it easier on those days when you just cannot get to Mr T. My DS1 has tins of B@xters soup in his locker with packets of Oatcakes for those days when getting out for lunch is just not do-able.

Thanks Joey, this post really helped! I had hoped that too but it seems not, I shall do my best to maintain my integrity and work hard and see it through!

That's a good idea, I will put a spreadsheet together now and count it down! I have also added it to my signature here :)

They've accepted my resignation and confirmed last working day as 20th July which is 3 months from when I resigned so as expected. He had a chat with me earlier this week and asked if he found someone to start sooner would I be open to negotiating an early leave date. (he's happy to help on his terms!) so i said, absolutley, I know my new company want me asap so if i was able to leave early that would be great for everyone so I said I was happy to play it by ear on that point. Fingers crossed.

Good ideas, I will do that and have a little stock!

Went out for lunch just now with two of my friends here and they asked how Mr Boss had been and I said it hadn't been brilliant. One of them said that I should take it as a compliment as he is only angry at people leaving when he likes them as he takes it personally. I hadn't thought of it that way so I'm glad he said that as it will keep me motivated now to try and leave on good terms with him.

Hey Mark! Thanks for the tips, I am going on those websites right now. The train is still an option and probably cheaper but I'd be restricted on times as M would have to drop me off (we're a few miles from the stations) however I could get an early train, gym before work then walk to work so maybe that will work for a bit and try to save up for a car.

I see a lot of people buying scooters or electric bikes or collapsible bikes for the journey to the station at one or both ends. To be honest I should probably do the same, but 60 minutes cycling at 05:00 doesnt appeal and my OH wont let me buy a scooter :-) (she is right not to)

    Heya

Mark - Yeah I've been thinking over the weekend the best way to do it. I think i will try the trains for a few months as it will save a lot of money, now its summer I can enjoy the walk to the sation maybe (40mins) and on the rainy days just jump in the car and get in early. It might work with going to the gym before work so will try that too!

Hope everyone had a good weekend! Mine was lovely! M came back from Wales Friday night, we had take out and chilled!

Went riding with my friend K, on Saturday morning. Unfortunatley the stable forgot to book us in! Whoops. luckily the horse I usually ride was available so K rode her and I took lots of videos of her jumping! She was really pleased and enjoyed it, i was quite happy watching and booked in for my solo hack next weekend!

Only 54 commuting days left! I have my countdown set up and am ticking them all off!!!

This week I am WFH tomorrow, will make the most of it as it's my last one!ARGH!

I did a boxing class with my friend this morning which was great and we're booked in for the HIIT class tonight followed by a cheeky nandos with our other friend!

I have downloaded a couch to 10k app and have already done 2 days, will do day 3 tomorrow. Hope I stick at it, I wanna build up slowly and avoid injury so this seems the sensible way to do that.

Just reconciled my YNAB for the end of the month, I'm not doing well with spending at the moment, with everything going on I've relaxed a bit too much. Will turn down a couple of dinners out and get myself back on track, I have suggested a picnic instead of a pub lunch for a lunch next weekend.... that way we can be MSE and I can make sure it's SW friendly!

Hope you all have a good week.

    ARGH!

I queried today about how I take my mobile phone number back out of the work plan so when I leave I can take my number with me - I've had it for 10 years!

What they didn't tell me when I brought my number in was that if I wanted to take it out then I would have to pay the remainder of the contract! That's almost £300! I'm fuming!!!!

I can't afford and refuse to pay that so I'm going to have to go through the hassle of changing my phone number! Going to get it sorted over the next couple of days so that I have as long as possible to make sure my friends and family have the right number. What a pain in the !!!!!!!!!

    And Breathe.

Off to 1rebel again tonight, will take out my frustration on the treadmill!

Changing number isnt so bad - especially as you have FB and other social apps as a back door if friends don't get the message.

Also make sure you back you data up before you switch off - if its an iphone I think you can back it up with your appleID, but I'm not an expert

That's true! And might be a good chance to have a clear out!

OK cool, it's backed up automatically to the "cloud" so I'll just make sure that is enough! I was looking at new phones last night and decided to go for the SE they brought out, its way cheaper than the other iphones and I'll just get used to the smaller screen!

WFH day today, bliss. My legs are sore from so much exercise yesterday so I lay in bed and iced them while I worked for a bit, just had brekkie and now back to the grind!

Heading out for lunch later (paid for) and I have already checked out the menu to make sure I can make a SW friendly choice.

Then this evening as its such a beautiful day I think I wil drive over to the park, have a long walk and also do week 1 day 3 of couch to 10k.

Tomorrow I am booked in for the Re-shape HIIT class in the morning and a friend at work got me a gust pass for her gym so I'm doing body pump at lunch time with her.

Tomorrow night we have a new financial year "kick off" drinks and food in the office... Don't want to ruin my good work this week so I have a plan! I will have driven to the station so I won't be able to drink as I'll need to drive myself home and I will prep a mini early dinner to have at my desk before the drinks start so I won't be tempted to snack on the food they order which will most likely be pizza or something.

Friday I'm booked in for re-shape again and then M is home in the evening! I'm going to try and new SW recipe of rendang curry and let myself have a few vinos!

Saturday I have booked myself a horse to take out on my own and give that a go, desperate to get that box ticked!!!

Sunday is a big memorial day for M's regiment in London so there is a parade, service and then a few of us are planning to go for lunch after, I'm keen for lunch as it'll be nice to catch up with everyone but the places they're looking at are so expensive! I might take some sandwiches to snack on and then just have a drink at the pub.

If you havent pulled the trigger on the phone yet look at http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/deals/cheap-iphone

The mid use (may not be suitable for your needs) iphone 6 deal looked quite good value - certainly I used it to leverage a really good deal out of EE. The quoted deal was £85 up front 500 mins talk 1GB data for £20.99)

I used it as collateral to upgrade a iphone 5c to the 6 (great camera), with extra 5GB data and 1000 minutes calls and unlimited texts

Oh LG, I'm really disappointed with your boss but not surprised. Once notice is given, they really don't care anymore as they are annoyed/hassled. But like everyone says and you seem to be doing, just take the moral high ground. In some ways it could be seen as bullying - if he'd agreed to you WFH before then snaps it away once notice is given - but I doubt there is much point making a fuss and you'd be better off just dealing with it (as you are doing) safe in the knowledge that you can look at yourself in the mirror knowing you've done everything morally right.

Not long now though! And do you have any holiday to take to shorten the commute period?
