Fantastic news - I'd raise a glass to you if it weren't barely 8.40am. I'm absolutely delighted for you.
I hope the next three months are as dignified as you deserve.

Woo hoo woo hoo - happy dance round the kitchen x

OMG OMG OMG - YOU AMAZING LITTLE STAR!!!!!

Am so so pleased for you! You sound so positive about it all which suggests totally the right move! Well done - massive pat on back and sending virtual champagne!!!

Don't worry about what current boss said re disappointment etc. Who on earth tells anyone they're looking until they have a job in the bag anyway?! Bet he wouldn't himself!!!

  • Well done!!

That's better than what I got once when handing my notice in which was a phonecall from the commercial director, no hello just a very loud and angry 'what the f@ck are you playing at'!!!

That was despite me telling them I was looking!!

OMG literally a year to the day when I resigned from my london role! AMAZING. Now, these three months might get tough. There will be times when you want to wish those weeks away but you will get there. Firstly, the first month will fly by as you will be on the high of the new role. Then you will be busy helping to get things ready for when you were leaving last month will be a wizz pop bang of count downs.

I am so happy for you x

    Hi guys

Just read all your comments and have such a nice warm fuzzy feeling now, thank you so much for your wishes. I am genuinely so chuffed and feel like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders!

Joey - thank you, I raise a glass to you too! It's never too early!

Lullabelle - thanks! I know, everyone i have spoken to in addition to you guys agrees he is unreasonable to have expected me to have spoken to him, I stand by my decision! Roll on July!

Sugarcube - thank you! OMG they sound as unprofessional as my lot! It's awful, I hope your next move was much better!

Brightspark - Thanks!!! What a coincidence, I think that must be a good sign!! You're right, I want July to come around but I won't wish away the summer, i shall be busy with handover and year end and will make sure they have no reason to say i didnt leave on a good note!!

Hope you're all having a good weekend! I had Friday off work, I popped into new company to drop off paperwork and show them my passport, it was nice to see my boss-to-be again, he's nice and we had a good chat. He congratulated me and said I made their decision easy as I was such a strong candidate! That made me feel fantastic and was great to hear.

So financially I think I'll be better off, they offered me a salary similar to what I'm on now, just slightly less but I won't be using tube and trains (£400pm) so that will be a big saving to put towards our second car which we'll need. There is currently parking at the office but soon they are moving to swish new offices and from then on I should expect to have to park in a normal car park so I will research those costs. The pension is way better matched contributions, they have share save schemes, private health, 3 days more holiday a year with the option to purchase up to 10 days more, discounts on car leasing and discounts on energy bills. GET IN!

The real icing on the cake is how much I truly believe this is also a great career move and that I'll be able to made a long and good career in this company fingers crossed.

We had friends over last night to celebrate my news and we had a naughty take out but it was SOO worth it.

This morning I dropped M off at work and he is now in Wales for 2 weeks, I will miss him loads - already am! - but will use it as time to catch up with the girls and eat super well. I had a lazy morning and afternoon today but then I did an hour on the xbox dance game and did my 7 min workout. I've eaten well today but had some wine, so hoping for a little loss at the end of the week.

Do you guys remember at the beginning of the year one of my new years resolutions was to be brave enough at riding to take a horse out on my own in the park? Well, tomorrow I'm doing it! For most riders this wouldn't be a big deal but I've only ever ridden out in groups so I'm excited to go alone, I have booked a horse called Arizona who i am told is a lovely park horse and we'll go out in the park and hopefully get to see some of the deer! It will be a very good end to the week if i have a nice ride on top of my news!

Well done LG - smooth work :-)

Parking can be a big deal, and quite expensive, but there is always somewhere cheap if you are happy to walk a few hundred yards. You could set up a challenge like you used to with the tube lines.

Failing that try parkonmydrive.com (I think - other sites are available, or parkopedia.com).

Second cars are a challenge - but don't go new (without a 40% discount - sometimes available) and don't go too cheap and you should be fine
I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine

    Hi LG

It is fantastic news well done! I am so happy for you and glad you are celebrating as you should. Sure the three months will fly by (and you are commuting to london for the last time at the best time of year - normally nicer weather so easier to walk etc).

Sorry M is away for so long but well done on turning that into a positive for you.

Do tell us how you got on at the park! Great you are challenging yourself xx

Hey Mark! Thanks for the tips, I am going on those websites right now. The train is still an option and probably cheaper but I'd be restricted on times as M would have to drop me off (we're a few miles from the stations) however I could get an early train, gym before work then walk to work so maybe that will work for a bit and try to save up for a car.

Thanks Brightspark! Yes although cold I have had some lovely walks this week so will try and make the most of it!
Cheers! There's actually a rumour they might get brought back for the weekend so I am keeping fingers massively crossed, I miss him so much!!

The park was GREAT!!! I didn't end up going on my own as another girl my age was heading out at the same time so she offered to show me the routes which worked out perfectly as now I know all the different summer and winter routes and I got to know the horse well so next time I do go alone I'll be absolutley fine!

This weekend my friend, K, who I rode with in London is coming with me to join the riding club and we're having a jump lesson together so I'm looking forward to that!

This week has been good, my impending departure from the office is a little more common knowledge now, everyone apart from my boss has been really understanding and it will be hard to leave those guys, my boss seems to be coming round a bit, he's massively annoyed at me but we are working together fine so thats something.

My contract is in the post, should have that when I get home tonight, they emailed me the details, the benefits package is impressive! Lots of share saving schemes to take advantage of, car lease discounts, extra holiday to buy, energy bill discounts, rail ticket dicounts, the MSE-er in me got excited!

I had a shock with the bank this week, logged on to my credit card (paid in full each month by DD) to see I was overdrawn!!! !!!!!! I have a £2k limit and never go near it! We did spend a lot last month as we put the holiday and car insurance on my card to get the avios points but I sent over an extra payment before the DD was due to make sure I didn't go over my limit! Then they've charged me for going over my limit too! i looked back and saw my DD at the end of March wasn't taken so the balance wasn't cleared.
Rang them yesterday and it turns out that when you send an extra payment yourself it over rides the direct debit - useful to know!
So they cancelled the charge as a gesture of goodwill and at least I know in future to make sure I clear the balance if I make any extra payments.

Been a mixed week food wise, week started great with a bootcamp class, loads of walking and good meals. But then on Tuesday I missed M and opened the wine and chocolate and last night I went out to celebrate the job with my bessie, S, and we had prosecco, cocktails, chickens wings and burgers! OH GOD!

Back on track today, am hoping to WFH tomorrow so will do a couple of hours on the dance game, and if M is back for the weekend I will need to clean the flat... a LOT! hahaha

I take it back about my boss being OK with me. He's just taken away my working from home days, managed to keep next wednesday but I have to come in tomorrow now.

I'm over tired from this week so it has upset me but deep down I kinda knew he would do this at some point. I will stay strong and get through it.

It's tougher when M is away to get to and from station but I'm just going to pay for parking next week and make my life that tiny bit easier. I'm also going to go easier on myself on food prep, it's so heavy carrying in a bunch of food when I walk 3 miles from the station to work. So I'll stock up at Mr T near the office on a Monday with, jacket potatoes, salad, cooked chicken etc so I can stay SW healthy but without so much faff.

Just need to get through these 3 months, focus on the end and look forward to my new (slightly easier) life.

    Positivty. Positivity. Positivity.

You guys will get me through it if nothing else :)

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that he's being difficult. I hoped he was going to be sensible and dignified but some people cannot do that.

Not that I want to wish your life away for you but have you heard about that thing people do with squared paper and they colour in one square for each 1% or £10 or whatever of debt that they achieve. Well you could try doing that with days in the office - to help you realise that every day you get through is another day closer to getting out.
Have you got a firm date for your last day? And have you taken any outstanding holiday into account when negotiating it?

And yes of course, make your life simpler. Buying a few healthy things from your local Mr T's will help you mentally and only be a little more expensive. Also consider a pot of low fat soft cheese in the fridge and some oatcakes or crispbreads in your desk, and possibly a decent tin of soup, which will make it easier on those days when you just cannot get to Mr T. My DS1 has tins of B@xters soup in his locker with packets of Oatcakes for those days when getting out for lunch is just not do-able.
