that all sounds like good news. I would say you need to be careful about (even talking about) putting yourself forward and then backing out, but the North of Scotland is a long way for you. definitely if you turn the job down after interviewing that would be bad (but secretly good in that you got it).

I think the key question (if you are even willing to consider it) you need to ask your boss is what's the minimum time and whats the expenses package. I know with your house nearly resolved that's less of a worry, but if they paid for your rent and you were living on expenses you could pretty much bank the vast majority of your salary

plus there is a lot of healthy outdoor stuff which you seem to like :-) - or failing that a short period of workaholicism is actually and unfortunately quite good for the CV and certainly for experience

sometimes its good to go where the competition is less strong, because when compared against the LG who stayed in London (sliding doors style), who would look better for the next big role someone who was local or someone who had done most of the job! If you stay in LG you need to work hard for the attention of the big bosses to make sure that lack doesn't hurt you

I probably would stay local in your shoes, but there are perks to a year or two away that aren't obvious

Just playing devil's advocate here, but if you were to go for and secure the role in the North of Scotland and spent a year or two in that role, if a similar role came up in London, I'd assume that you'd be a more favourable candidate for that because of your higher level experience? Just something to think about.

Plus the North is beautiful :) 100% different pace to London though, which I realise!

That's so much for the comments I read them the other day and have been thinking about it a lot. I think I've just realised recently what I value in my life outside of work and I want to put that first, I've done really well for my age and I wasn't expecting to push for FD for another few years anyway and I don't want to keep putting work before anything else. It was a big factor in me and my ex breaking up. Scotland just isn't right for me right now, I already struggle feeling lonely despite having a big support network around me and to take myself away from that just wouldn't work.

I have a 121 with the senior director in a few weeks when he's down South so hopefully that will give me a better indication of what I can expect.

Payday today so budgeted for March, it's a busy month and it's already looking tight so will need to keep in control. But should be able to save £90.

Debt has come down by £100 this month after making the min payments on top of last months over spend which is really good. First month its gone down not up, so that is a good feeling, feels a bit more in control!

Rest of this month is fairly quiet apart from Superhuman tomorrow so need to try to not overspend. At the moment I have got £38 saved this month and I want to keep it there!

No further movement on the flat, I hope he gets the money through soon I want this progressed!!! The light is glimmering at the end of that tunnel!

  • Evening all,

I write to you pretty broken! Superhuman was brutal. Brilliant but brutal. I have never felt this sore. The first workout was OK, second do-able, third took me to tears as did number 4.

Dancing till 3am afterwards hasn't helped the situation!

Such a fun day though, so pleased we did it!

Did overspend last night though by about £40 so I'll need to make that up somewhere. I will have a look at the budget tomorrow my brain can't compute tonight!

Every once in a while you need to let your hair down even if it means pulling the belt tighter for the rest of the month. Especially on a short month.

    Hello!

Just reconciled YNAB for Feb and I have come in against budget as follows....

    Fuel Budgeted £120 spent £89 :D
    Groceries Budgeted £200 spent £275 :(
    Going Out Budgeted £200 spent £247 :(
    Horse-riding budget £50 spent £0 :D

Overall overspent by £41 which I am actually really pleased with as thats the smallest overspend I've had in a long time. The overspend I had to reduce my emergency fund savings by so I saved £10 instead of £50.

Budget done for March, planning to pay another £121 off my debt this month and obviously spend nothing on the credit card.

    Controllable spend budgets are:

    Fuel £120
    Groceries £200
    Trains/Taxi's £70
    Hairdressers £70
Gifts £80 (Mum /bday, mothers day, couple of b-days)
    Going out £200
    Horse-Riding £50

Should be able to save £130 into the emergency fund based on the above but hoping to save on spending and save it instead.

Doing better at keeping on top of housework recently, this weekend was supposed to be having brunch with the girls in London but we had some bad news. One of them was out running the other night and had a stroke, she's only 34 and fit as a fiddle so it was a massive shock. She's awake now and improving everyday so we are feeling positive she'll make a full recovery in time. She's a keen runner so loads of us went out running this morning for her.

Hope you're all having a good weekend

Sounds like you are on top in a big picture way. If you consistently miss one of your specific targets - you do need to consider whether you should raise that targets and find the saving somewhere else. Rather than just miss it every month, which is no good to anyone.

Otherwise it looks like you have a very well controlled baseline, and maybe just need to think about missing out one or two small spends that are your least enjoyable just to give you that margin

Can't really lecture you about budgetig - just don't really do it except in reverse
