    Hi gang!

Sorry for being quiet! I got ill and have been struggling to shake it off.

Had to take last mon and tues off sick as I had a horrible chest infection and was totally wiped out, still had to call into the board meeting on the tueday for 4 wonderful hours and the actions that came from it meant i had to be in work weds and thurs no matter what. At Least I have had this week on annual leave to rest up more.

In the midst of being so unwell I had some trouble at work but I took an opportunity to stand up for myself that last week over the situation I briefly described earlier which I wasn't happy about. I had been asked to raise a substantial invoice to our biggest customer, with no written committment or agreement from them, so I pushed back and asked for the correct paperwork.
The Sales Director (who until now I had a good relationship with) sent an unneccasarily rude and obnoxious email in return and proceeded to actually take the pi$$ out of me for trying to ensure my firm wasn't at risk of exposure. When I responded for us to all discuss the next day (emails were at 11pm at night) he responsesd likenening me to the "difficult" person in the office. Nice.

The next day I discussed it with my boss and he did actually back me up and said I was right to ask those questions but when the sales director joined the meeting that didn't come across. But for the first time I actually told him face to face how frustrated I was and if he'd spoken to me he wouldn't have needed to send sh!tty emails late at night. Still he didn't apologise which made me feel like poo but I know i did the right thing and now I know not to watch myself with this guy!!

So, now Im feeling even less guilty about my job search let me update you on that...

I had an interview this morning at a global car manufacturer, household name for a brilliant role as commercial accountant in their motorcycle business. Get this.... 9 MINUTE commute from home to office. I honestly practised so hard I want it so bad, it would be a slight decrease in pay but not enough to out weigh the cost of not paying for trains! The interview went really well I thought but it's so hard to judge if they liked me or think I'd be a good fit for the team so just have to keep fingers crossed. Its not a managerial position which I am happy about, it has lots of stuff i am good at and enjoy so i think it could be a job I could settle into well! I should hear by the end of the week so will obviously let you all know how i've gotten on! I am nervous just to hear if i got through to round 2, I really hope i did enough!
So, this week! I am on annual leave and it is BLISS! M is off too so we are having lots of nice time together, we have decorated our living room and it looks lovely and feels more like ours now that we have put our stamp on it! He is away on a stag weekend this weekend with a friend of ours so I am going over to theirs to hang out with our friends wife, we're going to watch chick flicks and drink wine! Can't wait!!!!!

    Hope you are all good!

My thinking on your current company - Run as fast as you can and don't look back, but don't forget to keep cashing your pay cheques :-)
I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine

LG this has brightened up my day to hear such lovely news SO happy you are having a lovely week. Shame about silly sales manager - sometimes these things are there to show us what you can really do else where. I do hope you hear back about the car company. Good luck with the rest of your job hunt x

Hey LG - I agree - get away from that horrid company. So pleased your interview went well and you are having a good week off. My fingers and toes are crossed for you. Good on you for standing up for yourself - my view is that they are going to get themselves in hot water soon and you want to be standing in a cool pool far far away!

Thanks for the messages guys, they called his afternoon and I didn't get through :( the other two candidates both worked for similar firms in similar industries so they got the edge.
To be honest I'm a bit gutted as I'd pinned hopes on getting this and being able to get out of this current place and get away from the commute and start to be less tired and stressed but it's fine. I'll start afresh on Monday and see what else comes up.

Sat in a bar now waiting for my friend with a book and bottle of wine so I know she'll cheer me up!

Hope you all have great weekends

Oh LG, I'm gutted for you too - really had everything crossed. But agree with Brightspark and I think it's just a matter of time (and I hope a relatively short one!) until you find the perfect job - then you will be glad you didn't get that one!

Hang in there kidder - you luckily have so many other positives in your life.

I had very jealous visions of you on friday night waiting for your friend in a bar with book and wine!!! Sounded like it would be so nice to be out! Been a long time since I've done that with friends.

    Big hugs. xxx

ps - not sure if it's your cup of tea but if you like reading have you tried poppy loves bookclub? I joined and had my first bookclub on weds night online (though there may be an actual local group who do it where you are) - it was quite good actually and made me realise I miss being part of something like that
