  • Hi LG

What a weight loss I am so happy for you. It makes such a difference doesn't it?

Well done on the interview too. I think it sounds like a great role but of course deal with the start date as and when - a couple of weeks (which is all it is really) wouldn't put them off the right candidate from my experience. Good luck!

As for communicating with your boss, you kind of have to be a bit selfish here. Personally, I would never tell an employer you were looking to move to a new role as they can look at your in a different light. I would only once I have a secure job offer and I was prepared to leave at that stage if they didn't give me what I wanted. You have 3 months notice for a reason - gives them plenty of time to get someone else in if they need too or even let you go sooner than that. Cross that bridge when you come to it.

Pleased that whilst M was away you were ok too x

Everyone is telling you the right way to go I think. And fingers crossed the local company do snap you up.

  • Hey everyone,

Hope the start to your weeks has gone well!

Writing on my phone so apologies for not replying individually, thanks for all the advice and support as always, you guys are awesome.

Unfortunately yesterday the recruiter called to say that although I came close that they have decided to pursue someone else, I asked if was due to my notice period that the other candidate got the edge and he said it wasn't so they must have just been a better fit for the role. It's fine, dissappointing as it was a way out of this situation for me but it really is fine, it was only my first interview so it would have been lucky to work out straight away!

I have connected with another local finance recruiter today and we have a call scheduled tomorrow morning ... Baby steps!

I had dinner tonight with my close friend who does the same commute just on less days and it was so helpful to really spill on her and she understands and also gave me some good advice around positive thinking and she did actually suggest if I don't see an improvement in myself and well being in a few weeks to speak to the doctor, which I have taken on board and will bear in mind.

The last two days have been a management offsite session with work to try and come up with a strategy that will save the company. It was a really productive two days but completely mentally draining! It felt a bit like we were on the Apprentice at times! We worked through dinner and drinks last night and I fell into bed around midnight. I did still manage to get up this morning and ran along the Thames for 3km which was nice and a good way to clear my head before starting again today.

I have taken on board everything you guys have said about putting myself first and keeping my resignation plans to myself until I have another role, I will feel guilty about doing it but only because I feel loyal to my boss but I think that's normal and I hope he will understand when the times comes to have that conversation.

The new office is all confirmed now and we are moving in this week/weekend so come Monday we have w new home, I think there will be some building going on next week but it will be nice to be out of the temporary offices! Also, we will have a fridge and microwave back so it will be much easier to be healthy and MSE over lunch!

So, a few days "off plan" slimming world wise but I have managed to keep up the exercise so I am hoping that will partly counteract the food and wine!

Something to enjoy this week is tomorrow! My friend S, rang up a competition on Magic radio last week and only won tickets to the Brit Awards tomorrow night! Crazy so she invited me which is awesome, I cannot wait, very excited to see all the acts, especially Adele!

M is away again this week and I am doing fine, now that the first week away is done and I survived I feel less anxious about it all and am seeing the positives ... Such as now... I get to lay in bed, drinking a glass of wine, chatting to you guys! Haha

Right, I'm up at 6 to make it to the gym before work so I will sign off now, sleep well all

Glad you're sounding so positive. And you know, you should be. Your first interview and you were a close second, that's fabulous. All interviews help you and you got good feedback that the 3 months notice isn't off-putting. To be honest, I found a lot of companies expect that particularly for more key roles.
And The Brits - wow that's fantastic. I don't need to tell you to have an amazing night.

  • Hey LG, I totally agree with and endorse what the others have said about the job - it was very well done to come close second and sometimes it is just not meant to be. But great practice and should be a confidence boost. You'll find the right role I'm sure.

AMAZING re the Brits - I am well jell! Enjoy and sing your little heart out!

  • Hello!

Hope you've all had a good week and are looking forward to the weekend!

Brits were AWESOME! So much fun! It was really good to see so many people perform songs that I like at the moment! We were sat quite high up which is MEGA steep at the O2 arena but once the show started I forgot the height and it was brill, loved Adele! I stayed at my friends house in London after so I got to avoid the train and have a lie in the next morning, perfect!

This week has been OK overall, M is back tonight, woohoo!!! I have horse riding tomorrow morning and he is off to the rugby in the afternoon. A nice lady at work had invited me and a bunch of others to her 40th birthday on Sat night but its over 2 hours away in the car and I just really fancy having a quiet weekend so I am not sure I will go to be honest. Also as I have been "off plan" food wise this week I really wanted to get in tonnes of exercise and eat well and not drink too much. Also, the way I feel about work at the moment I'd rather not have a work function over take my personal time!

I had a chat with a new recruiter on Weds morning who sounded really nice and understood my need to move roles as he also used to commute to the city, I am meeting him next Wednesday he didn't say he had any roles in mind right away but you never know when something might come up.

Today and Monday we are moving into the new offices which is a big relief, we are all so fed up of being squashed in a small, hot room together! And I personally am looking forward to being able to bring lunch in again as in this temporary office we dont have a fridge or microwave. Also we have 2 showers in the new place so i am hoping a lunchtime run or two will be able to replace a gym membership.

The girl in my team at work, T, has found a 30-day squat challenge online so she has bullied (it didnt take much!) me into joining her for this so we are beginning that tonight! first day is 50 squats! I'm not sure I can do 10!

I put on 0.4kg this week which actually isn't as bad as I expected as I have been more off-plan than on, so I am looking forward to remedying that this week!

That's about it from me I think!

hope you all have great weekends!

  • Oh I need to make a confession. On Sunday, I bought a dress I didn't need and didn't really massively want either it was £50 when I got home I realised that was my "old ways" so when I am in town on Wednesday to meet the recruiter I am taking it back!

I think we will all absolve you from this 'crime', especially since as well as realising you didn't need it you also realised you didn't want it and the purchase was probably speaking to a different kind of need to make yourself feel better.

I did used to know a girl who regularly went and tried stuff on, bought the odd thing and then took it back to another branch, or a different floor of the store a few days later. She never took the stuff out of the bag at home, she said it was about the thrill of the chase.

Have a lovely weekend with M
