Hey guys!!
Back from the US of A and can report lots of news!
Holiday was lovelyhad a nice 6 days with OH's parents in Connecticut and then a few days in NYC. Lots of eating, drinking etc etc. We went to an outlet mall one day.... oh my goodness outlet prices plus 40% off plus the savings when you convert to £££'s. We shopped a LOT! Lovely weather as well!
I loved NYC! Such a nice city, our hotel was good apart from the building works that woke us up nice and early every morning. We explored Central Park, walked Brooklyn Bridge, visited the 911 memorial, went to the top of the Rockerfeller Center, did 5th Avenue plus more! It was lovely!
Unfortunately the flat buying put a lot of stress over the holiday, I had calls at least once a day from the Estate Agents putting pressure on that the buyer at the top of the chain was pulling out etc, there were a few sleepless nights!
Anyway we landed Thursday morning to be told if we didn't exchange the next day he was pulling out for sure. So I had a major stress, luckily our solicitor was on it and we did exchange on Friday (just!).
So we are every happy that we reached this milestone! We are looking to complete on Tuesday next week, I have requested Wednesday off to start moving over some boxes etc and we will move in properly next weekend! Cannot wait!!!!
We had a call today to say the sofa and mattress we ordered are ready and will be delivered on moving weekend so we have our fingers crossed that the bed will also be ready then too!
Lots to organise now! We need to set up a joint account and get our address changed everywhere but just soooo excited!!!
I was also pleased to come back to another cheque from HMRC sending me £337! SWEET That managed to pay off my NYC shopping splurge!
Back to work yesterday, it's good, we're not too busy at the moment so I'm trying to get all the annoying jobs off my desk!
Hope you're all ok xxSantander 0% £1,529.94

Hi!
Sorry for going quiet the last couple of weeks have been crazy!
Well, we're in!!! We completed last Tuesday as planned and moved in this weekend
We are very happy and I can't believe we are homeowners! We had our first night there last night and I commuted in to work today which was fine!
I have applied to open a joint account for us, when that's done I can split out household budget out from mine as it's mixed up at the moment but I think I've managed to keep track of everything we've spent so far.
We were v lucky that our families gave us £10k to furnish the flat so we have planned to spend this on everything we need but still save some of that money to begin our joint savings so that's good.
I have this Friday booked off to finish unpacking and to go to Twickenham in the evening for the opening world cup match so I'm looking forward to that. I am absolutely exhausted at the moment!
Once we start setting bills up I should have a good idea of what money I have left to spend and save each month.

Congratulations on all you've achieved, and putting lessons into practice. You should consider turning your experience into a blog or self-help book as you've shown how its possible to turn everything around if you have determination, even if life gets in the way once or twice. I hope you're not going to abandon us completely now you're getting your happy-ever-after,. though I suppose I couldn't blame you if you did.

Thanks so much joeyjimbles!
I might just think about doing that once we're settled in and I have more time, that would be a good use of my 2 hour (total) train time each day!!!
I don't plan to abandon my diary or MSE for sure, it is what has gotten me to where I am now! Now I need to focus on being MFW! LOL

Thanks Bright Spark!!!!
We've had an interesting couple of weeks!
Last Thursday night we drove over to my old flat to collect the last of my things, about 9:30pm on the way back I swerved to avoid something (don't know what, pitch black) and cracked the curb taking a chunk out of my tyre, it blew immediately so we had to unpack the entire car onto the side of the road to access the spare wheel. The wheel cost £88 to replace but I also had to spend £44 to have my wheels put back into alignment.
Then
I sold my iPhone on ebay as I can now use my work phone for everything and I don't have to pay any bill. Got email confirmation from paypal to say payment received so I shipped it off only to check paypal a few days later and ... no money! Rang them up, totally bogus email have reported to ebay and police but have zero hope of seeing that phone or any of the cash. £400 down the drain. F***ing fuming about that!
Otherwise we're doing OK, the flat is good and we've gradually managed to start getting organised, we did another ikea trip this weekend so don't have too much more to get now.
I tried out the local riding stables at the weekend, really impressed, lovely horses and good instructors, she recommended a group ride at the weekend which is about my level right now as I am out of practice then I can work towards moving into the advanced group, it's not too expensive either compared to what I was paying before and if I paid for 10 upfront I got the 11th free with the option to cancel at anytime.
Money seems to be disorganised to me at the moment. I'm paying for a lot of joint expenses as we haven't set up the joint account yet (need to get proof of address first sorted) so I don't feel happy my budget is up to date!
Today is my Bessie mates birthday, her bf has said to her he is taking her out for dinner, but actually he got me involved and we've organised to surprise her with a few more close friends to be there when she arrives! Can't wait! I know she's feeling down at the moment and she doesn't think her BF has organised anything particularly special so she will be really pleased I think!
