Oh no poor you, I know what you mean sometimes these 'freebies' end up costing you far more! well done on the bargain new one though. Perhaps you could list the one you are getting rid on freecycle? If someone smokes themselves they might not mind? My mum got rid of a horrid old sofa that really was past its best but the new owners were using it for their teenagers 'den' so were just chuffed to get a free one. x

Seriously, when is our luck going to change?!
M went to buy us a microwave after he finished work today... got it home and opened the box and the glass on the front was completely shattered.
He's driving back to take it back and bumps into the back of someone.
So now he's in a real tizz. Poor thing, tried to calm him down and gave him our insurance details to pass on and hopefully the damage isn't too bad but I don't have much info on that yet...

Do you ever find yourselves over-worrying unnecessarily?
It's funny but recently (probably because I've had a big change in moving from London) I find I worry a lot and am really anxious and as a result moan about things coming up that actually turn out to be OK!
Two examples... tomorrow night a colleague at work arranged for drinks with a guy who is related to our work and may even join us in a position we're creating but because I know they like to drink and stay out late I find myself fretting about it, like I should have some sort of excuse ready to be able to leave early enough not to get the last train home. I know I'll really enjoy the evening and there's no reason for me not to get the last train home, it won't be empty and there's a taxi rank at my station at the other end who will get me home safely but part of me hopes that the evening will be cancelled so I don't have to worry about getting home.
The other thing is, when I know M has to work over night and I'll be home alone I cannot relax, the other night as soon as I had eaten I went straight to bed and watched TV on my ipad until I fell asleep. I worry that when he's not there something will happen which I need him for... like what if there's an enormous spider that I'm too afraid to eject from the flat?!
Any ideas? Maybe it's just a time thing and I don't feel quite at home yet in the new flat and still getting used to the commute.
In other news, payday today! A tight month as a result of not receiving payment for the iPhone but I think we can live a little more cheaply this month now we don't have the move to worry about or a foreign wedding to attend!

I have another theory LG - SEPTEMBER!!!!
My September was only saved by a certain restaurant chain (wrecked the next day by dear family) so I feel your pain
But you will get there ... I know you will.....and after the 8 legged friends? I think you should get some four legged mini toddlers- ... ratties
. They are just like toddlers but in a cage. Same moods, same sulks
....yes they will also eat all your leftovers and drink your wine LOL
I'm sorry for not checking your [strike]blog[/strike] but my head has been bust with anxiety and doom and glooms (stupid I know but I told you - it was september!!!)

Thanks guys, well my car needs some work doing on the front, the VW sign fell off and the grid under the bonnet has broken hopefully won't be too costly. I'll be going to the garage this weekend to get a quote.
We had to tell insurance, the other guy who OH went into went away with a squiffy bumper so he'll probably want our insurance to cover that.
OH was seriously miffed when he picked me up from the station, also a bit shaken too I think. So I poured him some wine and gave him so chocolate while I cooked sups, then we spent the evening playing Rayman on the x-box which was fun and he was a lot better by the time we went to bed.
I did manage a NSD yesterday so that is good and hoping to day will be one too. Tomorrow won't be as I am meeting a friend for some dinner after work but I am looking for a voucher for us to use.
I've logged back into My Fitness Pal today. Since I moved out of London I am doing a lot of walking as part of my commute ... from Waterloo to my office which is about 3.5 miles every morning and some evenings too, so I wondered if this is enough exercise with my current diet, if so I can stop feeling so guilty about missing the gym (membership cancelled already).
Hope you are all well xSantander 0% £1,529.94

Following on from the above re walking from train to work...
This usually takes me just under an hour, so in the evening I opt to get the tube which takes 20 mins but does cost £2.30 each time.
Tonight, since I have some running kit with me, I'm going to jog from work to Waterloo and get the train which just leaves 15 mins later, then I save £2.30 on the tube and get a little bit more exercise in. If I could do this a couple of times a week it's be good to save the cash and get some small runs in.
I got the rejection from the London marathon so a friend and I are aiming for a 10k this year and then a half marathon next year so all good practise for that

3.5 mile walk every day is pretty good! Then if you can get that little run in a couple of times a week, even better.
I've kept up with your diary and it's what's got me motivated to keep going, when I see just a few years ago you were in debt and now you have your own place - that is really awesome, well done!Giant London-sized mortgage (started July 2017) £472,561 /£499,000 Current LTV 85%

Thanks Lessavyfav
Last night as I was 1km into my run the heavens opened, I don't usually mind running in a bit of drizzle but this was full on downpour so I had to hop on the tube.
This morning I did my walk though so that's another £2.30 saved! I did it with the Zombie run app which I am loving and I ran the bits where the zombie were chasing me! lol! I was making really good time until I got to Tower Bridge and an enourmous boat was coming through so I got to watch while the gates opened and let him through!
Tomorrow and Friday I am not in London for work, I'm at a 2 day offsite in Hertfordshire so work have hired me a car (OH needs mine) but I am hoping to squeeze in a run before dinner tomorrow night and also Friday morning.
Yesterday was another NSD

Hi, I used to walk the 2 miles into work most days and honestly, it was amazing exercise and I really miss it now...
Also if you are going from waterloo to the city, my way was always over other bridges rather than tower? Also, when it is back up and running you can use your london terminals tickets to go from waterloo east to london bridge without having to pay for the tube? nifty trick I used when I was using Waterloo to the city. I think it should be back up next year? or maybe 2017? Still worth baring in mind.
Sorry about your car and OH's crash. At least he sounds like it was a minor one and hopefully no excuse to have injury claims which is what pushes it up! xx

Just had an email from BA confirming they will refund me for the cab that I took to the airport when they cancelled my flight, another £41 in the emergency fund! xxSantander 0% £1,529.94
