Big hugs, that's rotten. I abhor mindless thuggery that spoils someone else's things/life. I hope they do find who was responsible. And, I know this is only the tiniest crumb of comfort, at least you are on an even keel and not still in debt so this is a little hurdle to jump and not stones added to the mountain. x

Thanks guys, you're right. I am gutted though, oh well.

I played with YNAB earlier and luckily should be able to afford the repairs next month. I had planned to give M a chunk of money next month to pay him back for our USA flights and hotel but I can use that money instead for the car.

I actually remembered over the weekend that when I move out of the flat I will receive my deposit back which is £1k so I can pay M back in full for the USA holiday and still have £200 left over to build up an emergency fund again.

ARGH! I don't like to wish bad against anyone but I really hope whoever did this to my car realises one day what effect this could have on someone, if this was while I was still in mounds of debt I honestly don't know what I would have done.

Ignoring the car for now as it gives me a headache!

On to the house... called up the mortgage broker for an update today, she said TSB gave the valuers the wrong phone number for the estate agents so the valuation didn't get booked. WHY couldn't they just google the number for the estate agent?!

Anyway that's now been rectified and I let the EA know, he said, if I can get the valuers contact details then he will call up and cut out the middle man so I'm trying to get those for him.

REALLY wanted the mortgage offer this week but I have a feeling it won't happen at this rate.

Works good, going well. Been a few quiet weeks as people are on holiday but that's good as I have more time to catch up on admin.

Diet going well this week but I have a work night out tomorrow which will require a few glasses of wine at least. better book time for a long run this weekend.

Running- feet seem to be doing a lot better, I have found a couple of stretches that seem to ease the pain while im out running which is helping a lot. Also I use a rolling pin to massage the bottom of my foot everyday which helps a lot.

Tonight I am meeting a friend to help her shop for a dress to wear to a wedding then Nandos. On the way home I need to buy ingredients for lunches the rest of the week.

Pay day on Friday :) budget is pretty much set already for August, as we are out of the country for 10 days I'm hoping I will come in under budget in a lot of areas.

Took the car to the dealership this am for a quote (I know they're the most expensive but it's just to get a quote to send to the police to get the crime ref number) anyway he seemed to know his stuff (and didn't hurt he was blindingly attractive) he doesn't seem confident at all that it can be repaired so quoted me for a new door, with all the taking apart, rebuilding, refitting, respraying I'm looking at about £900. So it's going to have to be an insurance job!

Ran 1.4 miles this morning, my legs felt like lead though! I am thinking of joining the gym for just two months to really kickstart my fitness then it will be easier to maintain at home. Finding it hard to kick myself into shape alone at home.

I'm interested to hear your views on the below, I imagine you can look at it two ways...

I am bridesmaid for a friend in September, she lives in Germany and I think I mentioned about the awkward naked hen party in the spa! Well, altogether this is costing me circa £600 to attend everything, pay for my bridesmaid dress etc etc. I'm happy to go and do that but just wish it was cheaper so I guess I am being a bit resentful of the whole thing anyway.

Anyway, she sent a group text to the 4 of us bridesmaids this morning and asked if we would mind serving the champagne at the reception after the church - and to be fair she did text us at a bad moment but I felt really peeved that she's asked this of us, two of us don't even speak a word of German, we'll be in heels and our dresses and I am clumsy as hell so will likely get it all over me and the guests! In addition I feel its quite cheeky to ask that of people who are flying over to be guests at your wedding and buying you expensive gifts etc etc..... I guess there's the view that it's her big day and I should suck it up but overall I just felt annoyed. I sent a reply and said I would feel really uncomfortable doing it when I don't speak the same language as the guests and she said that was fine, the others haven't even replied so I imagine they felt the same way as me but I wonder if I am the worst bridesmaid ever?! My colleagues at work thought it was pretty outrageous but maybe that's just us!

Hi you! completely understand re the bridesmaid thing, mine is pretty similar - I had to organise my own hen do and it was very MSE but hers was all out flash. I dont begrudge it - but when things are tight anyhow the money would have been useful for other things. Plus myself and mu paid for everyone at my hen do so it cost her nothing!

Hows everything with the house ?? x

    Heya!

Yeah I find these hen parties get more and more extravagant and it just puts people off as when you combine the costs of everything including attending the wedding especially when one or both are abroad it gets ridiculous!

    HOUSE!

We have progress :) The valuation was carried out yesterday and I had a text from the valuer last night to say it was a beautiful flat and he was happy to sign off on the offer price. PHEW!

So I have spoken to the mortgage broker today who has confirmed that TSB are now completing the offer and we should have it within 48 hours.

The estate agent has officially taken it off the market and it is Sold Subject To Contract!!! WOOP! It's starting to feel real now!

So, fingers crossed before we go away we can get everything in place to complete end of August. I was so excited last night!

Car - She's been seen by two garages who both say the dent is irreparable and a new doo is between £800-£1200 as there are so many electronics in the door and the new one would need to be sprayed. I'm gutted but I had to go through insurance, my excess is £350 so I will need to pay that and the insurance will take care of the rest as well as losing my no claims bonus.

The big dawg in the squadron has been away, word has gotten around what has happened but we haven't heard of him doing anything to try and find out who did it.

She's booked in for Friday and they've giving me a courtesy car while she's in the garage.

Every thing else is OK, I lost 1.1kgs last week which I was really happy about and this week I've been on track with food and exercise so hoping for the same again.

Tube strike Thursday will be a pain in the bum!!!!!

    Morning!

Well we had the mortgage offer through yesterday and I am expecting something to sign from the solicitor tomorrow - not sure what! But it seems to be going through OK. Fingers crossed!!!

We also had the survey report in the post which looks fine, he did point out a few things to query so I need to read it through properly again and work out what they are!

Been to the gym every day this week so far and feeling good! Tonight I am also going to walk the 10km home as we have another tube strike. Might stop halfway and have some food then walk it off.

Car is in the garage tomorrow morning and I will be getting a courtesy car which will be handy, hopefully I get her back before holidays.

So happy all the home buying is going well, I don't want to mention the car but honestly I am so sorry you've got these problems! Its expensive enough buying a home without all these stressful expensive extras. Well done on being so good about it.
