Wow you have been busy!
Warhorse tickets is lovely present! I've just read the book, it's a beautiful story.
Re: giving blood. I do this. Don't worry, you'll be fine. The nurses are excellent! Their job is to help you relax.
There's a form you fill in with details, they'll give you a small booklet of info to read. Then they'll take you in to run through the questions and do the finger-pr!ck test to check your iron levels.
Then another nurse will call you to a free bed and they'll put on a blood pressure cuff (helps to raise the veins) and clean the skin.
Needle in and it'll be 15 mins or so whilst they take just under a pint. The needle is a sharp !!!!! and then they tape the tubing to your arm to secure it.
The first time I donated (a while ago!) they would give you a local anaesthetic before inserting the needle. If they still offer that I wouldn't bother - it's more painful than just popping the main needle in!
They may ask you to squeeze your fist to help the flow (it certainly speeds things up). They'll remove the needle, apply a pressure pad and keep you lying down for a while more. They keep a close eye on you if it's your first go. Then it's tea and biccies and then home time with that warm glow of a good deed !
Make sure you eat well in the morning and drink plenty of fluids beforehand - they will also expect you to drink to small cups of water/squash beforehand - meant to reduce the risk of fainting.
I wasn't hugely keen on needles when I first went. They don't bother me now.

I've given loads of blood, not only is it a doddle but nothing beats the feeling of helping to saves lives in that way. Sad to say it is now illegal for me to give my blood
which is a shame, but I try NOT to look on this as discrimination and pick other things to be outraged about :-)
I do however have frequent blood tests and have learned its all down to how skilled the nurse is, but even with a bad nurse its never painful. You'll be fine. Let us know how it goes :-)December 2005 TOTAL DEBT at its worst - [STRIKE]£20,596[/STRIKE]

WTG on the repayment, that must be so satisfying!

So, morning everyone,
thanks for all the blood advice, appt is at 10:25am tomorrow so will report back!
Woke up to the sad news of Whitney Houston's death this morning, that's really sad. Her family must be devastated.
So, today I need to go any buy that birthday present then meet my cousin for lunch, she mentioned 1pm but she's always at least an hour late, so I'm thinking it'll be around 2! haha
Really need to get back into running again, kicks up the jacksie are required!!! Feeling a bit podgy and run down. Plus drinking too much, that needs to stop and most of it is at home, my FM brings wine home more often than not and when its waved in front of your face its hard to say no! So, will tell her today I'm off the booze and lets see how many days/weeks I can go! It'll help on the MSE front too!
Right, breakfast time then a spot of studying before I go out. Beans on toast it is!!!Santander 0% £1,529.94

I forgot to mention, I got a letter from Santander yesterday - they have my loan which is due to finish in July but I'm hoping to pay off next month with my bonus fingers crossed
In my eyes it read:
Your loan is nearly over.... let us help you get into more debt and keep us in business! We would like to offer you a great loan rate to borrow..... wait for it.... £7,500 min to £20,000 max
You've been a wonderful customer and also paid us bucket loads of interest on time, so why not keep lining our pockets with your hard earned cash??
Yours Sincerely

Remember to eat a big breakfast tomorrow morning! The first time I gave blood was unexpected - a friend came over and asked me to come along so I hadn't thought about it and didn't really prepare - it was about 1pm and I'd only eaten a banana and nearly fainted when the blood was being taken. They had to stop taking it and because I hadn't given the full amount it couldn't be used so none of it counted. Silly me for not eating more
Fingers crossed for your bonus, mine came through in my Jan paycheque. EVeryone said they got about half of what they had last year but mine had gone up so I must be doing something right at work! You sound like you've put the hours in and worked hard so I have faith you'll get a good chunk to pay off some more debt!

Hi LG
Your parents will love War Horse. DH and I went with friends over a year ago and the friends still talk about it as the best show they've ever seen!
Good luck with the blood donation - it reminds me that I need to check it out again.
