  • Hey Miggy!

That's a brilliant programme idea! It's make it much more interesting, could have households competeing to spead the least during the month and whoever wins gets a debt paid off!!! LOL

Love it! How about a hybrid Shopaholics x Wise Swap - a MS person going to a spendaholic household! I can already see the fur flying...

I think I prefer your version though (not being keen on programmes where contestants get personal about each other) - really keen MSE-types competing would make amazing TV!

I was obsessed with Spendaholics when it was first on, and that was the point where they quite esily could have done a program on me. Interesting sidenote, has anyone noticed how many of the people on the show are gay men? I wonder if they found them all at the same place or something!

Its very interesting that they take the approach of tackling WHY someone is in debt and blinkered, as well as the route to financial recovery. There is always a psychological reason behind overspending, and I wonder if its ever possible to recover unless you identify and address the cause. My debt was most definitely self-esteem related.

Good luck on the date, won't ask for details now in case we jynx it. Let's hope 'good on paper' jumps off the page! :)

Oh no I hadn't noticed only seen that one episode so far!

Yes, I do like that side of it, how the psychologist helps them work out the reason behind it. I think mine was self-esteem mixed with wanting to fit in, I always had problems at school with wanting to fit in, it wasn't till late in school I realised the true friends were the ones who I had looked down on cos the group I was trying to fit in with were "cooler" (They weren't) I'm still friends with the good ones today and I know they'd be the first to support this journey but they're also the ones I haven't had to explain myself to as there's no competitiveness with money.

Blimey, that was a bit of a revelation. Hadn't really thought of it like that before.

Hehe thanks! I hope so too!!! :)

  • Evening all,

Had a little tactical epiphany on the way home! Figured I'd already spent today so why not use the change to grocery shop from for the week then I can salvage a NSD on Weds! Da daahhh!!

Only spent a fiver too, half what I'd budgeted for on Weds. And I'm truly set for the week. So now the aim is to get to Friday evening without spending - Friday's spend is a bottle of wine to contribute as my FM is cooking for us and some friends. She found a raclette set which she had never used, so giving it a whirl. Since I love cheese I reckon I'll like it!

Last year I was involved in organising a charity ball, we raised £7k for a charity for casulties and families of servicemen of a certain regiment. We raised £7k and only had 10 weeks to plan. We've set the date for this year - Sept - and are going to get planning right away and as it will be a similar format we reckon we can use the extra time to raise more money rather than fretting over details. First meeting is Weds. You might remember me mentioning last year these meetings were held in a private members club (which the lead organiser is a member of) and they were costing a FORTUNE! One night was £50 I remember. So my aim this year is to maintain NSD's on these nights, will prepare S-wiches to eat on the way there so I'm not hungry and take a bottle of water from work so I don't drink! Weds is penciled in the diary for meeting one.

13 weeks tomorrow is the day of my next exam. College starts on Friday so I need you guys to keep me on track with the studying as well as money please!!! Weirdly looking forward to getting started - the sooner I start the sooner its over!!!

  • Oh god, I feel awful. It was my best bud at works birthday yesterday and I completely forgot! She had the day off and came in today and I saw presents around her desk!

I feel a right tool! She always remembers mine and gets me something really nice. I feel so bad. She knows I forgot and laughed about it. I do need to get her something though. I'm thinking that this weekend I'll go out and get her something nice and give it to her on Monday. Im such a bad friend!

    Hi LG,

I doubt there's anything I can say to make you feel better right now, but you did mention earlier that good friends understand things - and that does include the odd birthday forgetting. It's what you do now that's important and you already have that in hand.

It's not about being perfect and being on top of everything all the time. It's about being a good person and always coming through in the end, and that's definitely the way you are based on what we read of you here.

Well done on the pre-NSDing for Wednesday and the charity ball organisation evening.
