Nationwide Soft-Search

Yes they do.
And if, as in my case, it shows your chances of getting the fluid card are unlikely, it actually goes on to show you various other cards you are more likely to get. It was the fluid soft search which led me to apply for the Bank of Scotland card and be accepted for it, although I suspect it was at the fringe of acceptance as I got a 23.9% APR. So all in all I am pretty grateful to Fluid, if it wasn't for them I'd still be limited to sub prime credit.
I can never get the Barclays soft search to work as it says it can't recognise my details.Oh, you wee bazza!0 -
Just a quick update from me in case this is helpful to anyone else.
I applied for a NW CC on 15th October and using their soft search was offered £4500 @ 19.9%. I reduced the limit to £3k and pressed the 'apply' button. The screen said that I had been accepted in principle subject to providing proof of ID. When I got home yesterday (7 days later) I had a card waiting for me at the £3k limit I requested. No further ID requests. Hope that helps!0 -

Well done!
This leads me to believe that the limit is more important than the rate they quote you as an indicator as although i got 15% on the soft search, the limit was only £1200.0 -
No, the limit is down to the salary amount you put in and if you have other cards.0

If you put £39,000 salary in and no other cards it'll probably come back with £4200 limit for example.0

shoot, i wish i'd read this forum first before i did the application. excitedly accepted £1000 credit limit at 19.9% (big step up from my credit builder cards) only to go on to be declined0

I think you're right Rich. I have a good salary but 3 other cards so expect that's why I got a decent limit but at the higher APR.0

But you have to be truthful about your salary as they could request copies of your payslips and bank statements!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I was implying that the person in my hypothetical example was earning £39k.0
