Nationwide Soft-Search

Name, address, number of years living at address, other cards, have you got a bank account - normal ID checks I think.
It says they dont do a full fat credit search on you until you click apply.
And I think the person applying should be savvy enough to know that if they defaulted on a credit card of some description a year or so ago, or owe several thousand pounds on a loan for example, they would have to me a bit tapped to click apply - that kind of thing.
And I think it just sums up the fact that nothing is foolproof.0 -
At least the Barclaycard one gives you an "chance of getting it".
I just wish the Nationwide one would give you an indication of how likely you will be to be accepted.
Apparently a soft search can access all the information a hard search can. I wonder why the Nationwide one doesn't give you an indication - the APR isn't really that, but I accept you can read something into it. But, it's not going to be something you are likely to be suprised at.0 -
I think nationwide has become the new Sygma (creation) Range from 2010 where everyone from OK to average credit files are being accepted by the looks of it.0

Have seen people with 80-90% chance of being accepted for a Barclaycard get turned down after the actual application - the old letter in the post a week later.0 -

Oh dear, that's just stupid.
Is the general conscensus that these soft searches are pretty pointless then?0 -

I guess these soft searches are more interesting to people who are unsure if they will get accepted .
What's the general consensus ? Pretty pointless ?0 -
Pretty pointless to a degree yes because as has been pointed out, you still have to click 'apply now' after the soft search and then along comes the possibility of a visit from Mr Decline.0

dont fluid do this too? is their soft search more like barclaycard or NW?0
