few seconds later full footprint and REJECTED... grrr!
Thank you for applying for a Nationwide Credit Card. We are sorry but, after carefully considering your application, we are unable to offer you a credit facility. We have received information from our credit reference agency, Experian, which has adversely affected your application. Under the terms of our agreement with Experian, we are unable to disclose this information directly to you. We ask you to accept that we rely on the accuracy of the information supplied to us and that, unless there is some significant error in their data, our decision is final.
We fully understand that being declined can be upsetting; but we ask you to appreciate that we must reserve the right to refuse applications.
When it says carefully considered your application it makes me laugh.0 -
Its largely a waste of time and meaningless.0

Just to satisy my morbid curiousity - Have you had credit issues at previous addresses? Do you have any at your current address? Have you lived at your current address less than 3 years?0 -

I think the FSA should make credit agencies tell you why you were rejected so you can do something about it.
Like Martin says, its a vicious cycle! :mad:0 -
They probably won't know exactly why you were rejected.
It was probably a lot of small reasons, maybe some major ones.
Or maybe you just don't fit their profile.
I know it's frustrating , but it's not actually their fault.0 -

In the very least there should be a law that requires it to be made perfectly clear after a rejection that it may be because of a problem with the credit report, and that applying for further credit without finding out why could damage things further.
As it is at the moment the credit reference agencies merely make it look like they're being picky, which to a certain extent they are, but then people generally struggle to understand that their report will look worse and worse each time.Oh, you wee bazza!0 -
There is nothing "wrong" with as credit report unless there are errors of course.
They contain information. That information is what a creditor looks at and decides along with other information.
What's fine for one may not be for another. So they can't say there is a problem with the report. You can check your own report and decide which things maybe negative0 -
Having been declined for pretty much all cards in the last while, I've just been accepted for this card, £3800 credit limit. It's not enough to shift all my debt to 0%, but I have an existing offer from Barclaycard for 0% till April.
Is it worth shifting Barclaycard to this one, and then my M&S to Barclaycard, that way having everything on 0%, although in the case of the new Barclaycard balance, only a short while. Or should I try apply for another card elsewhere? Who else would be a possibility to try and apply for?0 -
Hi i just done a soft search and came up with £2500 limit and 19.9%apr....is this bad as i dont really want to go through final application if its gonna be declined? Thanks0

What's your credit history like tara... given what I've heard about the dreaded 19.9% APR quote I'd be weary of going through with it.Oh, you wee bazza!0
