I think you actually said in your first post btw that on a weekend when you're not doing much you do more, which is probably where the comment about when you get a life comes from.
Honest question here- how will you feel if your gf/wife/partner's libido drops suddenly for some reason (getting pregnant, life changes, whatever)? When mine is low no amount of working on it, compromise, etc works- I can't even force myself (last time I did it ended with pain for both of us)...I'd be a very lonely girl if OH booted me the first, second or third time mine dropped through the floor for months at a time.
I fully respect that mine and my girlfriends sex drive might change as we get older, I can't predict that however.
In answer to your question it depends on the reason and her reaction to it. I really don't think it's normal for someone's sex drive to suddenly drop, there should be a reason behind it. If she's willing to discuss the issue and allow us to come to some form of solution then I haven't got an issue with this but if she wouldnt talk to me and kept it to herself I'd be upset. This goes beyond sex though, I'd generally want her to discuss issues with me anyway. There have been times we've been stressed with work, tired etc and do it a bit less but even then we'll make time for it.
I think illness is slightly different, there have been periods of up to two weeks where we've not had sex due to illness but that's just one of them things. We don't plan to have children so that's not an issue, the effect children have on your sex life is yet another reason we don't want them.0 -
Me and Oh have kids, and one on the way, and to the 2 of us, having our children doesnt make a difference to our sex life at all.
Sure, there was a drop in my sex drive when i was pregnant with my daughter, and obviously there'll be a few weeks with no sex after the birth this time, but i can't say it has an effect on our relationship other than that.
In fact in this pregnancy my sex drives gone up, so we have more nookie than ever.
And I would never have put off having kids for the wanting of a better sex life, yes it's important, but family is more so to us both.
Just goes to show how everyones different.0 -
I just tagged onto this thread, and its something I worry about as my drive is rubbish! Once a week if lucky, and only been married a year. No particular reason, although I think my recovery from clinical depression has a lot to do with it - plus my implant (damn it) which definitely had a massive impact on my drive as soon as I had it put in...maybe that's why its such good contraception! My OH is very supportive though, and although it might mot be as regular as we both want (and I would love it more but just don't feel it if you know what I mean), I know I still love him and think he's the sexiest man alive! I might not be able to "physicalise" that but all that matters is that you love each other and understand one another when things run a bit dry. For additional information, it was a number of times a day, for numerous hours during the times of plenty! Everyone has peaks and troughs, its how you deal with them and the understanding that matters! Hopefully when my silly implant is removed and I'm back 100% then the peaks will return!0

You underestimate the power of female hormones.
Never experienced this to be honest. If it's dipped theres always been a reason.
I'm honestly still not convinced it would just drop for no reason. I'm not even convinced a woman's hormones would vary that much to affect your sex life unless shes pregnant or menopausal. Unless shes going through some big change why would they?0 -

How much older do you have to get?
I was looking forward to pottering about in the garden or maybe starting a few new hobbies but I just don't know where older people find the time.0 -

But then I was completely sex bonkers at 19, so at 42, I'm still OK tbh
Not sure what pottering about in the garden has to do with it?Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0
