Should I "out" my SIL's eating disorder?

You have to try and separate the two things and work out what's really bothering you. Are you annoyed that she's a female dog, or are you worried that she actually has an eating disorder.
If it's the former, I say it's open season and you should use every chance you get to post witty retorts on her comments. One way or another this will probably stop you seeing her status updates soon enough...
If it's the latter, you need to get the rest of the family engaged in getting her help...0 -

I am so p1ssed off with my SIL right now. She's a tiny scrap of a thing who has far too much time on her hands and thinks it's clever to slag off overweight people.
Almost every day she posts some horrible status about "fat" people to her facebook account, presumably to get some attention for herself. I may be a little sensitive to it because I'm carrying some of the weight I put on during pregnancy, but I can't help but feel she needs knocking down a peg or 8.
Thing is, she's quite obviously bulimic. She has telltale tooth decay and was hospitalised recently with kidney stones - common in bulimics. She posted several statuses about the "fat nurses". Her lashing out at "fat" people is clearly in response to her own self loathing, but it's beginning to get on my t1ts. She has a foul mouth, no career prospects to speak of (has been sacked from 7 jobs this year already) and seems to think she's being clever.
So, would it be hideously wrong for me to reply to one of her comments with a line that is the equivalent of pushing her head through a wall? (I would say sticking her head down the loo but she clearly would feel at home with that).
Apologies to anyone who suffers with an eating disorder, by the way. I would usually be the first to help, but this girl just gets my goat.
Advice from me - don't conduct relationships on faceache and do nothing, unless she insults you directly.
I understand how annoying this must be, but ignore her unless she is behaving in a way you approve of.Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
Outing her illness on facebook is just going to make you look spiteful and petty, hide her from your news feed and ignore her if you really feel you can't delete her,it's not worth getting worked up over someone who lives miles away and isn't an important part of your life.0

facebook is the cause of lots of problems. in the old days you would merely be hearing of her awful personality/problems via third parties and wouldnt even think twice about her, you would simply have to tolerate her on rare family visits along with everyone else that she annoys
i dont use facebook
Hey.... its not facebook thats the problem - it is the internet - where the bravado/careless attitude by many is carried out...
OP if you want to help talk to her - other than that ignore her comments off your feed, I have done that with people on mine and they are not being nasty - just writing stuff that I cannot tolerate to read... but its obvious there are insecurities so don't allow them to consume you aswell.0 -
Crikey! So cos she's insulted people and it's offended you, you think it's safe to out her ED. If someone did that to me not only would I be fuming but, as has been said, an ED is a mental illness, it would also take its toll on my mental health** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **
**SPC 2012 #1498 -£152 and 1499 ***
I do it all because I'm scared.

I've done it to my half-brother and a couple of cousins because I don't want them knowing my business. What's so hard? It's only a website!

Sorry OP, but it is you that comes off bad here. Eating Disorders are a mental illness, one that guess what both affects your physical and mental health and despising "fatness" and expressing it is quite usual. You on the other hand remind me of someone who would out a homosexual person just to betray or make fun of them in front of their peers making them feel shamed an guilty, you obviously do not like her and do not want to help her so remove her from your facebook friends list and leave her alone you horrid, unsympathetic woman.0

Just to clarify, I had a witty response I wanted to use that would have outed her indirectly IYSWIM.
But you're right, life's too short. I'll hide her and chillaxScience adjusts its views based on what's observed.

Because it's the only way the family connect with each other. They don't bother with visiting or phoning, or even e-mailing, so pictures of the kids etc go on FB for everyone. It's not how my family works, so it's a bit odd, but it's the way they operate.Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.
