i think its important to recognise both that the SiL has a problem and is ill, but its also important to recognise the impact that constant remarks and nastiness is having on the OP whether or not that is borne out of personality or illness. dont be too hard on her.

people do come on here to rant, but as i have already said, no dont deal with it that way
• wow what a !!!!!, and I mean you not her.

Eating disorders are mental health illnesses she needs help not you digging the boot in on fb. Either try and help her or leave her alone.

So if I claim I have a mental illness I can say whatever I like about anything?

No not at all, but if you dont like what she says ignore her, dont out a mental health problem on fb.

I'm past that, thanks. That was the point of my thread.

Just need to find a clever way to point out that she's making herself look like a !!!!!!.

I disagree. ED's don't just affect the sufferer. The whole family and sometimes friends and workmates suffer with it too. It's very difficult when you see someone's actions taking their toll on their children/parents/partner. In some cases I think the ripples are as far-reaching as with alcoholism. The only person with the power to stop it is the sufferer and often theu simply don't want to.

I expect the OP's frustration has arisen from seeing family members going through the mill - the Facebook stuff is probably the straw that's in danger of breaking the camel's back.

Or be the better person and ignore her. Life is too short for all the drama

If I understand correctly, you are talking about your partners brothers girlfriend who lives several hundred miles away and your only contact is via facebook ?

Why is this bothering you so much ?

Why not just delete her from your facebook contacts and just get on with your own life ?

You say that she lives "hundreds of miles away" from you so it would appear that your only contact is on Facebook. As has been suggested just put her on ignore - and ignore her completely and utterly.

Why should you need to point out that she looks like a !!!!!!? Other people will already know it from her posts! If you rise to her bait, she will have you hooked!

And you can keep her contact with your family to an absolute minimum.
• If she weren't family I'd do it in a heartbeat, but I'm not sure it's that easy. :o

I wouldn't have a problem deleting an in law off facebook trust me, if shes that annoying just do it or do what I have and hover over her next status, click on the x in the right hand corner and chose the option to ignore future status updates, I have done this for ALL of my in laws and I am really not missing anything but it avoids any questions as to why I have deleted them lol

facebook is the cause of lots of problems. in the old days you would merely be hearing of her awful personality/problems via third parties and wouldnt even think twice about her, you would simply have to tolerate her on rare family visits along with everyone else that she annoys

i dont use facebook
