  • Well so much for my quiet night.

Tenpin bowling and then Bella Italia for tea. Food was yummy but bowling when 34 weeks gone was not easy, not to mention i looked like I was hiding a bowling ball under my top lol.

Did come away with a kilo bar of Dairy Milk, a box of Miniature Heroes and 2 cuddly toys from the amusements too. :rotfl:

Was a lovely night actually but feel sore now. Xxx

I'm hiring a TENS machine from the hospital and will see how I get on with gas & air at first. I don't want to rule out diamorphine but am not too keen, plus I really don't want an epidural if possible. If the birth pool is available (the hospital only has one) then I'd like to use it, for labour at least, and the birth if possible. So much to think about...!
I can't recommend the pool enough and Gas and Air is just amazing. I used a TENS machine at home, in the car and walking into hospital and it definitely works (well it did for me). I got to hospital and I was 8cm so surely it did something for the pain relief?! Also when she was examining me when I arrived when I sat on the bed one the connector thing pulled out of the TENS pad thing and the contractions were definitely worse without it! Just make sure you use it nice and early and don't be afraid to increase the intensity level...I only got to level 3 I think as I was too scared about upping it too early. I had level 4 and a 'labour' level that I didn't even get too!

Obviously I don't know how your hospitals are, but I didn't have a birth plan...just as well as I don't think they would have read it. They simply asked the questions as I went through labour. I got everything I wanted so I was happy, but I have to admit my hospital is very good regarding avoiding intervention which was my one and only issue.

Wow that sounds amazing, 8cm on just a TENS?! The midwife at our antenatal workshop at the weekend said that they're good as long as you put them on early enough, to allow the endorphins time to build up in your system. I think my hospital is quite similar to yours, she was saying that they really do prefer to avoid intervention where possible, and with a straightforward labour/birth you are only looked after by midwives, you won't see a doctor at all unless necessary.

I appreciate that birth plans are very rarely actually read, that seems to be the norm! I'll just make notes similar to the above I reckon, and make sure OH knows it inside out too, so he can make sure everyone is on the same page. But at the end of the day, if I need help I'm not going to be a martyr, I'll do whatever necessary to ensure I get a healthy baby at the end of it all! :D

Much as I'd love some pretty Hotmilk ones, I think these nursing bras I found on Hotukdeals are a bit more my price range:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B003KZK8FO/ref=ox_ya_os_product

Some sizes are £5, and they have some F cups.

Only thing is, I have no idea what size to buy, as my bump doesn't seem low enough to alter my band size yet. So I just ordered one, a band size lower than what I'm wearing now.

    You will NEVER believe this.

MIL just phoned, seat pads got delivered today, WITHOUT the hood for the carry cot! M&P will hear me tomorrow, I am not coming off the phone until I get satisfactory compensation/apology. To top it all I sent them an email about the supposed £10 gift card and heard nothing.

FUMING does not even describe it accurately enough.

Give them hell Gilly! That's ridiculous! I can't believe you've had three deliveries now and it's still not right!

Please can you record the phone call and post it on here so we can listen?! I would NOT like to be the poor call centre person who's going to get this phone call tomorrow! :D

Ohh Gilly, really feel for you!
I don't fancy being on the other end of the phone from you tomorrow :o they have made a real pigs ear of the delivery by the sounds of it and I would definitely hope they attempt to keep your future custom!

We've ordered our travel system from a local independent place. It's due to be delivery to the store early January and I've asked my Mum if we can keep it in her garage for a few weeks. She's made the odd jokey comment about unpacking it and wheeling it up and down to get used to it but she'd better not!!

Seriously an angry Scottish person isn't good, especially when I'm speaking to someone from Yorkshire :( they won't understand me. I'm more in disbelieve over it all tbh. As I said to OH, do they seriously think this amount of stress is good for a (semi-heavy) pregnant lady? If I could get my pram elsewhere in enough time I'd honestly tell them to come and collect it and refund me. £700 we've spent, which is a lot of money to us, and others too probably, but to us it's loads.

I'm not really sure what to push for now, as I really don't know what can compensate this complete carry on. I do know I want to make an official complaint though.

    Since last Monday it's been

    - a voicemail left on my partners phone informing us we'd have to change our seat pads or be refunded and have none (cheery may I add, no apology)
    - when he contacted them we were told this was inaccurate and they could get the pads, but they'd be 3 days later than the rest, which we accepted
    - I travel an hour on the train, in the worst weather we've had all winter, to wait in on the delivery, the car seat doesn't arrive, nor the adaptor
    - I phone M&P the girl was really good with me to be fair, offered a £10 gift card and I assume everything is sorted out
    - Gift card doesn't arrive
    - I email them about it, had no reply as of yet
    - seat pads arrive today, no hood for carry cot (now I'm not sure if it was supposed to come in the box with the carry cot or not? I assumed when it didn't arrive with it, it would come with the seat pads?)

What is all that worth?!? Really? :(

  • Gilly. I'd be seriously unhappy about that. Hope you get it sorted.

Also, did you notice there's a better offer on them at the minute anyway?

You get carseat, adaptor, changing bag, foot muff and parasol free with the package at the minute. Might be worth you mentioning that too when you ring, I figure they owe you big time now. Xxx

I know I've just looked, not sure how to go about that though :o just say I seen it online?

It must be to get rid of the old stock, because they're selling them different now.
