Just looking at the hospital bag list on here and the last item under baby is Vaseline (for first poo). Can anyone enlighten me?
Also on the supplement list is Arnica Tablets
3 days before: 2 30c tablets 3 times a day
Onset of Labour: 2 30c tablets every 2 hours (upto 6 doses)
After Labour (upto 5 days after): 2 30c tablets 3 times a day
Anyone know how these help?0 -

Babies first poo's will be uber sticky merconium, black tar like poop! It is apparently easier to clean off babies bum, if you have used a thin layer of vaseline on babies bum when you put the nappy on, before the poop happens.Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

Arnica is a herbal homeopathic remedy said to help speed up healing, reduce bruising, swelling etc. Some people swear by it, others not so much!
I've always found arnica cream to help with bumps and bruises to the skin, dont know if tablets will help with birth related "trauma".Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

Thanks for that, may well give it a try. Remember last time if was the middle of the night, was in pain from the birth and couldn't find a top and tail bowl in the hospital room and I just couldn't get it off so called the midwife to help (got the feeling she wasn't best impressed with me!)0 -
Thank you ginvzt and crabapple for your replies to my question regarding whether to see the doctor or to go straight to the MW. I'll give them a ring between Christmas and the New Year I think.Cos I don't shine if you don't shine.0

I am exhausted. Came down to have my lunch on the sofa and fell asleep. Went to bet at about 3pm, and I thought I couldn't fall asleep, however, every i e I looked at the clck it was half n hour or more gone. Then just heard OH unlocking the door. I think I was half asleep, so was more aware of wat was going around. Now OH is out for his work meal, I am back on the sofa, sleepy, thinking I really ave to eat something for dinner, but don't really want anything... Had a grapefruit earlier, as didn't have any other fruits today, bu know really can't think of what could I eat for dinner! Got takeaway menus, but nothing interests me...Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0

Just ordered Domino's. More expensive than local Chinese or Indian, but I really didn't fancy those. Not that I fancy anything, but I need to get some food into me. And there will be left overs for breakfast as well...Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0

Thanks Annabella, OH has said he'l order it for my Christmas if I want it, but I'm really not sure, I think I only want it because I don't want to miss a bargain if that makes sense? I feel disappointed at the thought of missing out
Well dinner all done here, OH is through in the living room wrapping Christmas presents and I am flat out in bed waiting on some TV shows downloading.
I have been walking loads in the past week and I'm going to try and keep it up, hopefully it will persuade baby into a good position and he'l be ready for eviction before they make him come outReally don't want to be induced and as more time goes on, the thought of it is scaring me more and more.
Was texting my friend today who's little boy was born in August, and she was saying labour is only bad until you get to hospital, once you get the drugs into you it's fine :rotfl: I think she was lucky as she got her diamorphine injection about 5/6cm, and her pushing stage was really fast so I think it saw her through that. I'm still not too nervous about the birth, more the looking after a baby that is scaring meThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
I think due to my hypnotherapy cd, i havent been scared of the labour till now. I'm still not scared per se, its just with this fairly sudden and severe onset of PGP, i just dont know HOW i'm going to manage the labour itself now it feels like everything i wanted i'll not be able to manage. I was wanting to be as active as possible, using different positions, moving around and maybe try waterbirth/water for the active labour. Now i cant walk, stand up, kneel down, get up from kneel/crouch, all the positions i fancied are seeming impossible, and i just dont see how i can even get into or out of the pool or bath. Done some reading, and they especially dont recommend epidural with severe PGP, as you cant feel where the limits of movement are, and you can do permanent damage! Feel like crying tbh.Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!
