that sucks Kira. Hopefully she will decide she wants out soon, I am betting on Christmas Eve/Day
that would be typical wouldn't it!
I'm still not sure about my birth plan, I'm sort of in the "go with the flow" attitude but then there are some things I know I really don't want, so not sure if it's best just to write those down or what. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -

I reckon at the mo, the 26th.
I'm go with the flo too if possible. I'm thinking along the lines of " i would like to try/ i would like to avoid" in my BP. I've given DH a briefing already.
The one thing i really do want to avoid is pethidine. Dont like the idea of it, and the transferal to the baby.Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

(((hugs))) Kira - I'm sure it won't be a bad as you are envisaging.
I'm the same Gilly, am going in with a 'go with the flow' attitude. I'd definitely write stuff down if there are things you don't want. And make sure your OH knows what they are too, so he can argue with the midwife when you're too out of it to do so!:j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0 -
I've heard with most first time mums it's normally diamorphine they give and not pethidine, so hopefully I can get that if needed. My hospital offers the "reme" drug that you administer yourself so I'm really quite interested in that, if it comes to it.
Really not keen on the idea of an epidural, especially if I need to get induced, as the risk of C Section becomes higher and higher with both of those.
I think it's best to go with an open mind, my friend said the worst bit is being in the house before hand, as it can be hours and hours and even days, and there's nothing you can do but take paracetemol and having a bath freaked her out as there was so much stuff escaping from her and floating around:rotfl:

I'm hiring a TENS machine from the hospital and will see how I get on with gas & air at first. I don't want to rule out diamorphine but am not too keen, plus I really don't want an epidural if possible. If the birth pool is available (the hospital only has one) then I'd like to use it, for labour at least, and the birth if possible. So much to think about...!:j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0

Kira is there anyway you could speak to your midwife again about your birth plan and how you are feeling about it all at the moment?
I've kept my birth plan very simple as i'm happy to go with the flow, if i need pain relief then i'm happy to have it, if the midwifes think i need something or rather then just go ahead and do it. Anything to get little baby out safely:)0 -
I am not scared of labour, but then I still have a long time to go (hopefully). I was advised to go for C-section by the doctor at the clinic, but then I am more scared of recovery from it that the operation or labour itself! I think my scars take quite a while to heal, and I don't want to be not being able to pick up my babies and care for them and being stuck in the house no being able to drive for 6 weeks in summer! Not that envisage much getting out in those weeks...
Am I being unreasonable?..Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -

Actually other than at the antenatal class in november, no m/w has bothered talking to me about a birth plan at all as yet, and our community one, who i saw the last two times, has said she doesnt want to see me again at all- she hopes the hospital will take me over again due to the pain and will evict bean before i'm due for a 41 week appointment with her.
The pelvic girdle pain is so new- last 2 weeks if that, that noone at the hospital is aware of it, other than the fact the m/w has referred me back to them for worries over bean size, and my acute "discomfort".
Still, all i can do is stay calm, and stick with the go with the flow birth plan wise. At least DH has stopped thinking that its good for me to keep moving when i'm in this much pain, and now doesnt want me moving at all.
Gilly, i fancied the Reme as well- sounded good from what i read, and i asked the consultant anaesthetist about it when i saw him, but its not through trials and approvals at my hospital yet, so is unavailable.Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

It wasn't mentioned at the antenatal class or anything but it's mentioned in my hospitals birthing book so I'm hoping it will be available for me if/when I need it.
I don't even see a midwife! Only my GP, who is great but obviously not up to date with all the newest things out etc.The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
Right, I blame you lot. I just ordered the Soap&Glory set for delivery to the local store... Have to go to a small Boots tomorrow, but it is unlikely I will find it there, so decided to order.Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0
