When/how do you normally take your Spatone? I keep getting sick with mine?

I take mine mixed with OJ to dilute it and disguise the taste. Usually after eating something lightish. Not been sick with it yet, unlike the tablets i tried.

(sorry for butting in - I'm not pregnant)...I took my Spatone in a glass (200ml say) of fresh orange juice first thing in the morning. Took it most of the way through my pregnancy.

I do this too. It says it's best to take it on an empty stomach - mine is never emptier than first thing! Plus, it's done then and I don't need to worry about forgetting to take it...

Hello all. Apologies if this question has already been asked - have you been on a plane in 1st Tri and if yes then was everything ok? I'm 9 weeks today and flying abroad for Xmas. My mum's panicking that I shouldn't be flying. What do you think?
    http://www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnancy/travel/gettingtherebyplane/

There was no way I could have flown in the first trimester personally. I was miserable with morning sickness most of the time and the thought of being trapped on a plane with that was a big no no.

Try not to have milk/dairy too close (is it an hour?) to taking spatone. OJ helps to absorb the iron. I think calcium doesn't help.

I take mine first thing in the morning, or at the moment when I've got the 4am insomnia, when I wake up then. Then I wait at least half hour before eating, but usually longer (especially if it's 4am!).

Is it the taste that makes you ill? I've got the apple flavoured ones, so I can keep that day's one by my bed and take it straight away direct from the sachet.

P.s. the other thing with the apple one is it has added vit C, so you don't need to worry about adding any. I can't even look at OJ at the mo! Even the Spatone gives me a bit of acid.

I'm taking iron tablets prescribed by GP and feeling sick most mornings, I normally take them with my cup of tea and now gone off tea as sick so often in a morning. Didn't click it could be iron tablets causing it.

I'm so glad I don't have to take iron supplements! They sound horrid!

Not good Mozzy, you're due 2 days before me too  maybe baby is just moving into position early?

Prescription iron tablets and syrup both made me feel awful. Just in case you hadn't realised as well, best not to take them with tea, as both the calcium in the milk and the tannins can interfere with iron absorption. :)
