Gin, do you make your appointments direct with the midwife or through your GP/surgery? If through the surgery I'd be tempted to call and change the appointment to before Xmas, it's not like they won't see you and if it's anything like my area they are sooo busy they would've likely forgotten that you weren't due in quite yet!!
I had some Reflexology yesterday which was v nice! She did do some "uterus stimulation" and last night and this morning I've had some very mild period type sensations (cramps would be exaggerating)... Saying that it might just be because I had a big meal out with the girls, or just plain wishful thinking!!
Easy day for me today, I need to get MIL a birthday card / flowers then some light bulbs. Might nip in to see a friend and/or my parents during my travels but that's about it.
I wonder how WW is doing? I think she'll have a boy too (did she find out the sex but not tell?)..
Happy Thursday girls, BM x0 -
Hi everyone, just posted this on 12 - 24 week thread after our 20 week scan this morning and wondered if any of you have had this with your pregnancies?
Hi Ladies,
Had an awful morning. Everything was fine then at the end we were told the baby has an ecogenic bowel which could be a sign of a viral infection, CF or a chromosomal defect. All the Fetal medicine midwives were in a meeting till 11.30 so we have to wait for them to call us to arrange more tests and have a consultation. We are totally heart broken and trying our best not to worry. Its going to be a long Christmas.0 -

Yesterday after the scan we saw a midwife and she said you next appointment is at 16 weeks with the consultant at local hospital. As that week is Christmas and we are away, she said ok then, it will be on January 5th. I asked could we have it before we go away, and she said there is no point, as they might try listening to the baby, and at 15w+3 it might be too early. So that battle was lost. We also tried asking to have our care at the main hospital we will be giving birth at (no choice for me - as it is twins, it has to be consultant led unit), and again, she said it makes no difference and we should just go to the local one.
Never mind, will be fine. I will have my notes with me wherever we go, and if anything, I know they will take a good care of me back at home.
Oh, got my 20 week scan - January 24th!
I am waiting for the doppler to arrive- hopefully today, so we can listen to the babies ourselves...Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
Hi laura, I haven't had the exact same, but we were told the ventricles in our babies head were enlarged and the fluid was bigger than should be at our 20 week scan, which is a sign of Chromosomal Defects. I had my scan on the Wednesday and we were rushed in to see the consultant on the Friday, he scanned me and the measurements were pretty much the same, I had blood taken to check for any infections, and was offered an amnio, which I declined. I was then told I'd have to come back every 4 weeks to check the measurements and his growth, was also referred to the fetal heart doctor for an in depth scan of the heart.
The consultant did check everything else on the baby and couldn't see any "markers" for chromosomal defects but had to explain to me that the prognosis wasn't good or bad, they simply wouldn't know until he was born.
I went back after 4 weeks and the measurements had all changed, he was within the limits and everything was perfect, so I would try and say not to worry (although I know how I felt and you can't help it) DO NOT google, it will make you feel worse, and for no good reason more than likely.
Have they said when you will see a consultant? The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -

Gin - I see... I saw my GP at 6 weeks, then first midwife appt was at 16 weeks and remember feeling a bit "left out on a limb" with it all, but I get the impression this is just how it is in general. You'll be fine anyway!0

Ah thanks!!! yes, that's Buddy (black and white) with Mindy. I have a third, Foster. My babies!!
They're so cute :happyhear
My OH doesn't like catsso no chance of ever having one, but I love them. My mum adopted a rescue cat a few years back and he was the most kind and loving cat I've ever came across, he actually wanted snuggles and would not leave you alone for a second, sadly he was a lot older than what the rescue centre told her, and she only had him for just over 13 months, but he was lovely
