If anyone is after a mama tens machine just noticed amazon have them at £27.50 at the moment to buy which is a lot cheaper then normal. http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000QG79DO/ref=asc_df_B000QG79DO5521229?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&!!!!!googlecouk06-21&linkCode=asn&creative=22206&creativeASIN=B000QG79DO
It's more then this to rent them from mothercare and the like. Came across as looking for replacement pads for mine.0 -
Have you tried the wands Annabella? My hair would never curl before I tried them, I love mines, it's a Remington one and I think it was around £25ish from Boots. They're sooo fast and easy to use. You can do waves or tight curls and everything in between
I got it for Christmas last year.
Edit: This is it here. Down in price too, great price for it I'd sayI find if I do tight curls before bed, I'll wake up and it's wavy for the morning. I have poker straight hair too.

My GHDs died a few weeks ago Gilly
Although it's only a hole in the cable but there was sparks and a bit of smoke so I haven't used them since...
Might be worth contacting Jemella Ltd who make these to see if you can get them repaired. I had a similar problem a few years ago and sent mine in even though the guarentee had run out. I had phoning them first as I felt the way the fault had developed was unsafe . I was contacted to say mine couldn't be repaired but offered a new pair at around half the price. You can find the phone number here http://www.ghdhair.com/help/returns0 -
Problem with my GHD's is the label which is attached to the cable with their ID number etc on to prove there real, fell off a good few months ago. So without that everything is voidThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

I've had mine since about 2002, so they've lasted really well! They also don't have a label on, even though they are real ones. Thanks though Kate, I will look into it. It does look as though it would be something fairly straightforward to fix...
I've never used one of those wands Gilly, will have a look into them as well!:j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0 -
2002? I was 14 then :rotfl: I've had 2 pairs of GHD's my first pair I stood on and they cracked and broke, and this pair I've had for about 4 years. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

I don't think straighteners had been invented when I was 14
it was either curling tongs or crimpers! :rotfl: You youngsters today, you don't know how good you've got it!

Hmm, was doing a bit of running round fri getting ready for the other half, went to the supermarket on the way to pick him up, got halfway round and suddenly couldn't walk properly. I've had pain in my hip, pelvis and lower back, and sitting, lying, standing all hurt. I ended up on the sofa friday night with a hot water bottle as I had restless legs too, but every time I moved it hurt and I kept going owwwwwwww.
Saturday was our all day antenatal class, by the end of the day my back was killing me. Did give me a laugh though when she described early labour pains, as I had all of them.
Seems to be easing off today, so don't know if it is spd type problems, or just overdoing it?
P.s., never mind helping me turn over, my other half didn't notice I'd gone till the alarm went off saturday! So much for worrying about disturbing him.0 -
Oooh no they must have had those horrible ones with combs that you put water in, that made your hair even frizzier than what it was to start with  Babyliss they were, awful things.
My mum bought a pair of GHD's around about 2002, and I used to sneak down to use them in the morning, before she got up
God remember crimpers, they were wild. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
Glad to hear your pains are easing Aimless, sounds like you just overdid things I reckon, rather than SPD. I was like it a couple of weeks ago, my parents came up one Saturday afternoon, I spent the morning cleaning and tidying then the rest of the afternoon hobbling around the house due to the aches in my hips and lower back!
I was 14 in 1995 Gilly, I really don't know what was around in the hair-straightening department! I just used to blow-dry it as straight as I could! Which, considering I was using my mum's ancient hair dryer, wasn't very straight! They were awkward years... :rotfl::j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0
