Thanks Aimless. So (excuse as i'm a planner), would you give birth in a nighty so they have access to down below, then change before you breastfeed into your nursing pj's? :o

    http://direct.asda.com/george/womens/nightwear/2-pack-nightdresses/GEM70996,default,pd.html

I bought a pack of these for labour, cos they're cotton and thin, and not too long. Last time I just wore a tshirt, and when I look at the post birth photos, I look really scruffy! :D Also, if I do happen to get the birth pool, you can just wear a tshirt in it, so I thought one of those ought to be ok for that, and cheaper and easier than finding a bikini top I might never need.

Of course if I am lucky enough to get the pool, I'll be changing soon as I'm out anyway!
  • Well i rang to book a place at the Pregnant Physio class only to be told they are cancelled and the next one is on 28th December :( Will just have to wait until then and hope the pain/discomfort eases a little

    Hi Ladies,

Just wanted to quickly pop in and share my news!

I had my baby girl on Thursday November 24th at 9.43pm. Poppy was born at 28+6 weeks by emergency c-section and weighs 2lb exactly!

She is doing well and is in the neonatal unit at my local hospital. She is breathing for herself with just a small amount of oxygen to help.

I developed pre-eclampsia which resulted in the emergency section, was an incredibly scary time, but delivery was the only option. I've just been discharged today, but will be spending plenty of time at the hospital with Poppy.

Hope all are OK and will read back and add my birth story when I get chance.

    Take Care.
    xxx

Congratualtions :) Glad to hear she is doing so well. xx

On the subject of what to give birth in-i had planned to wear a nighty last time but as things happened so quickly i ended up just taking my trousers/pants off and kept my maternity t-shirt on :) They put a sheet over me untill the end bit-but at the end you really don't care!

I've brought a couple of cheap nighties from primark for the hospital stay-they have buttons down the front for ease when b-feeding. Once home-no doubt ill be back in pj's-i just pulled up my top to feed then and didn't need to worry about covering up :o

I need to get some nursing bras pretty soon-i hate bra shopping!

My little boy (who's 3) has finally accepted that we are having another baby and told me mummy has a baby in tummy! :D Up untill recently-when people asked him if mommys having a baby and if hes getting a baby brother-hes shook his head and said nooooo!!

    Afternoon all....

Darkphaery, there's still some basic things you can do to try and ease the pain, they're not medical, just basic movements.... Going up/down stairs- one step at a time, lead up with the better leg, and down with the sorest. Get up slowly and carefully, support yourself if you can. Keep legs together when getting in/out of a car or bed, if you're lifting things try and keep the weight evenly balanced and not too heavy. If you can, don't hoover or push a shopping trolley (makes you do side twists with your hips). Sleep on your side with your legs drawn up and a pillow between them. Try not to take strides as well when you're walking....
If mine gets quite bad, I take a couple of cocodamol, but I try not to unless it's quite sore. Mine's stuck between a very bruised feeling, and a feeling like I have stitches down below and can feel them tug when I move (really hope that's not a precursor!). On really bad days, I will find it hard to take a step, let alone walk. I also need DH to help me in/out of the shower, as I'm unable to lift my right leg more than a few inches from the ground.
I also have a bandage from hips to top of bump to reduce hip movement and keep my pelvis tighter together.

    Hope some of that helps.....

We haven't done a lot- it's been pouring most of the day. Took MIL to a garden centre that always has a huge Christmas shop- they had a lifesize reindeer statue for £1000! We got a few cheaper things- a Santa claus salt and pepper set for a couple of pounds, and a stocking for DSD.

Resting for a couple of hours until DSD finishes school- I feel like such an old woman now! BUt even the garden centre left me tired and breathless and sore..... Was worth it though for the grotto in there- I'm such a child!

Giving birth- I'll strip naked, I don't care!
