Ricotta is fine Lucy :) it's similar to cream cheese and it's fine.

Oh also BM not sure if you already mentioned it, but lasagne, I know it's mince based but it's so yummy!! I tend to make mines runnier if freezing, means it doesn't all dry up with the freezing, defrosting etc.

Can I say something controvertial given I haven't ever given birth and just generally TMI?

Ok good - I think trapped wind might be the WORST PAIN possible!

All bloomin day I've felt like I'm inflating slowly and my organs must be all squashed as it's so slow moving! I can't manage my tea, I'll explode!

They could say the same with the annual leave as well. But since I am taking the full year off, and they are not going to be told that I am not coming back (you never know, I might change my mind), I will try. They do not allow to carry over holidays now (well, they are letting 5 days this year) and stamping hard on this, so I am not willing to leave my annual leave till after the maternity and then not get any. Oh well, as long as I get them I should be happy. I just can't wait to stop working and get some more rest and sorting out stuff around the house (not just baby things!).

My manager was a little difficult about my ML and holidays - he didn't want me booking any before ML due to workload (Dec year end so Jan/Feb is hugely busy with year end and audit) until I pointed out that this would leave me with 2 years of holiday entitlement to take in one year when I came back.

In the end in an effort to "use up" holiday and not affect my work too much I have borrowed 5 days into 2011, have booked 14 days in Jan/Feb and the remaining 6 will be carried forward along with the 8 remaining bank holidays of 2012 into 2013.

I'm sure if my due date had been much later in the year it wouldn't have been so much of a problem but year end and audit are considered critical times of the year.

Anyway, this is all assuming that I don't go into labour earlier than 1 week before my due date and I am not signed off from work for any reason - and there he was saying that the start date for my ML seemed very late after all that

I was sitting there smiling blandly and thinking "YES, because you wouldn't let me go any earlier or were having a hissy fit about me carrying forward more holiday. Grrrr!"

Ginvzt - can you take the approach that maternity leave is an exceptional circumstance that won't be repeated again anytime soon? Perhaps with this viewpoint your employer may consider allowing you to carry forward more holiday.

My understanding of the maternity leave laws etc is that they shouldn't leave you any worse off than if you had been in the office - so your employer not allowing you to take the holiday and not allowing you to carry it forward is clearly wrong.

If in doubt, try calling ACAS. I found them quite helpful on the off technical query which then gave HR the impression I knew what I was talking about ;)

Get some rennies and milk down you, that'l get rid :) you'l be belching all night though. The romance has truly gone between me and OH since I got pregnant, I belch like a man, he has to shave my legs for me, help me get off the couch, and I look like a cave woman gone wrong most days because I just can't be bothered putting any effort in to getting ready.

Ah didn't think about rennies, always associate them with heartburn, have had two now and I'll go for a glass of milk! I never ever belched until I fell pregnant, we've been together for 10 years but married for 5 months, DH just looks at me sometimes as if to say where has my girlfriend gone!

Hmm, I'm not sure about that Jenjade, all you could do is try air it as much as possible at the moment, not sure how possible that is at the moment with the crappy weather. Then see how it is before bedtime.

I've bought one button front vest top from Primark (about £2.50) to go with my regular bottoms, and one button front checked nightshirt from Asda (a tenner) :) I just bought a bit bigger than usual to allow for not having deflated yet. :D

I originally bought this one: http://direct.asda.com/george/womens/nightwear/nightdresses/brushed-check-night-shirt/GEM78108,default,pd.html

then found on sat that other half's Asda have red check ones! So I've left him the one I bought and the receipt, and demanded he goes and swaps it for me. :D

Having the last of my apple pie tonight, had it every night since Wednesday, not bad for £1.12. Going in tomorrow to see if it's still on offer :o
