The thing i got is a set- a cd with just the music they use, no talking. They recommend listening to this during the pregnancy so bean gets used to it and will find it soothing when they are born, plus they recommend it as the best thing to listen to during labour.
There is also a cd for pregnancy relaxation, you should use throughout to learn the relaxation techniques for during the birth. Yes, this is talking, over music/sounds but i dont find the speaking annoying.
There is another cd which is for 32 weeks plus, which is talking and music too, and focuses on body changes and relaxation during labour.
The final disc is another talking/music one, which is for post-birth and is supposed to aid fast recovery and coping with the early days..
You can buy it online, but often find it on ebay at a bit of a saving. There are a few versions, one for hospital birth, one for C section (if you know you are having a planned C), one for planned homebirths and even a version for twins/multiple births!
I have something like that
it consists of 4 cd's
fast postnatal recovery
pregnancy relaxation
relaxation
and relaxing birth music
all apart from relaxing birth music are with "talking"
PM me anyone if you need it, i can explain how you can download it.0 -
Hi girls - happy Friday!
I'm rather enjoying this maternity leave malarky - though I fear it's going to leave me skint. I'm only on Day 2 and I've been indulging:
- Eyelash extensions (highly recommend, hoping they'll last for a while so I can look reasonably ok post-birth)
- Manicure
- Pedicure
- 2 x new maternity tops
- 2 x new maternity PJs
- 1 x new pair of new shoes
I went out with a list and got NOTHING from it, but I'm pleased with my new bits anyway. So now to catch up...
Re birth plan - I've not written it down, but might give it a bash. Midwife said to include things like whether you want to be left in peace with OH after, whether you want the baby washed down before being handed to you etc. We're planning on a home water birth. I missed delivery of my pool this afternoon, not sure whether to pay the £12 to get it delivered tomorrow or wait in all day Monday for free and hope I don't go in to labour over the weekend!
Re perineal massage - Apparently you can use any oil that you would eat. I've not tried it yet, but now my nails are all trimmed down from my manicure (can't stand them being longer than the tips of my fingers) I might start (eek, at nearly 38 weeks).
Re Missy's tips - FAB thanks hun. Sounds like you're all getting in the swing of itHow lovely!
Re names - What's wrong with having first name and surname initials the same? I quite like names like that, think it can make baby sound like a superhero!
In other news.... My midwife came to do a home visit this week in prep for my home birth. All went well and she seems fine with it, and in general is VERY pro home birth. Only problem is there is a bumper amount of babies due in this area and a massive shortage of midwives. Locally we have a birthing suite (low-risk) and a labour ward (high risk). My midwife was on duty on Sat night and the hospital had to close between 3pm and 6am Sunday!!! When this happens they start turning people away and referring them to other hospitals... Soon the 2nd and 3rd closest hospitals had closed and they were sending people the 4th one well over an hour away! She said I would've been told to go to the 4th hospital if I'd called in for a home birth because there were no midwives available to come out to me! I've been reading up and this is untrue. I can apparently insist on a home birth and someone will have to come out. It's still a bit daunting and I'm not sure I want to be having this "battle" at such an emotionally sensitive time. We'll just have to see...
Anyway, my little town has Christmas lights being turned on this evening and my mum is singing in her rock choir, so best get off and get sorted for that!
Have a good weekend girls, I'll likely read but not sure how much I'll be around to post!

Hi All.
My sister has been working hard on a cool new thing at work, which she just sent me, and i thought you might like! Its an online 24 days of christmas calendar, which you upload your own photos into, and then send to your friends and family to share some smiles!
I'm going to have a go later using our scan pics from 12 weeks through to this weeks 35week 4d ones, and send it to my DH.
http://www.24daysofhappiness.com/Calendar/Create
Its free to use, but you can make a charity donation if you really like it.
