    Fizzing!Never heard that expression before..Love it! :p
So those of you at similar stages..are the hubbies not going out over christmas? xx

My other half doesnt live with me and has 2 sons that live with him full time and i am really worried he wont be around for the birth. They don't live far away but they play football all over the place. sometimes 4 hours away and i am really worried labour will start when he is not about. I have spoken to him a few times but it usually results in me in tears :( so i have decided not to mention it and just hope he is there
:j Proud mum to Jade age 10 years and Baby Ellie born Christmas Day:eek: with a broke heart :( Proven to be a little fighter and battling on with her heart condition :j

It's rubbish isn't it!He said why don't you just get an early night that night..umm yep it's SOO easy sleeping when you're waiting to hear thud, crash, knock etc at god knows what am and having to check they've closed the door/arrived home with wallet/phone etc, don't choke on puke and die etc. That's IF they arrive home..otherwise every police/ambulance siren going past scares the carp out of you.And seeing as though DS doesn't sleep and have to wake up for DDs feed pump etc an early night is not an option!
Tbh there'd be no way he'd not drink and I do feel bad for making him out to be a raging drunk because he isn't.He literally goes out once or twice a year..he just never got the hang of moderation:o he's been so lovely throughout the pregnancy,I get foot rubs and really looked after so why am I sooooo annoyed about this night out?
God I dunno!! I just wish he'd been thoughtful and said "oh I couldn't possibly leave the wife at 38 weeks but tx for the invitation" but guess that's me living in fantasy land!:rotfl:

In your situation, i think i would deep down be hoping that the invitation would be declined regretfully as well.... Its great getting foot rubs and consideration through the pregnancy, but to some extent, it is the time when you go into labour that counts. And neither your nor your OH know when that moment will be. Would it work to talk him through some scenario's about what you would both do if you DID go into labour and he was out at the do? Sometimes thinking about practicalities can take the emotions out of things, and help cut to the important stuff?

I remember those horrible worry days with my ex-OH very well. Drunken calls where he didnt know where he was, had got the wrong last train and was stuck 40 miles away, had lost his wallet/phone etc, or just not coming home or being in touch for 2 days. Totally different person when drunk than sober.. very stressful. :hugs:

Bump - feel sympathy for you tbh my hubby is not a big drinker so dont have this issue, perhaps he would be better off not coming back that night ie let travelodge deal with him and have a trusted friend stay with you that night so that you are not alone to deal with kids or any probs... but is it absolutely necessary he goes is there not anyone else at his work who can step up for him?

and some music came on and I could have blubbed, kinda hit me that my clubbing days are over, which I'm not that gutted about but hearing the music just made me feel gahhh :( ha. I'll be one of those embarrassing mums who wants to party with their offspring :o

Not necessarily, I'm already badgering people to arrange a night out for February, I think 2 months will give me enough time to recover :D

Had a bit of a crappy day :( went out with OHs mum and everything I looked at was a waste of money or 'too' much. I want a sturdy cotbed that will last but I should just get the cheapest rathe than one I actually like. It's not like I'm being unreasonable, £200 is a good price I'd say. Feel like crap now, like a materialistic cow. :(:(:(

It isn't materialistic to want want something that is good quality and that will last you. If you are paying I wuld just ignore her and get what you want. If she is paying I would be blunt and say 'well I'd rather have xxx so I'll pay for it myself thanks!' This is why I am reluctant to let anyone pay for anything, I don't want them to think it is their choice, but then on the other hand I've inherited a lot of stuff so can afford to turn down offers to pay. MIL gave us £500 to decorate the nursery (needed skirting board, new carpet etc plus painting and accessories) but she just sent the cash and would never dream of telling us what we should and shouldn't have. OH wouldn't stand for it.
I just wish he'd been thoughtful and said "oh I couldn't possibly leave the wife at 38 weeks but tx for the invitation" but guess that's me living in fantasy land!:rotfl:

I would expect my OH to say exactly that if he knows he gets totally wasted when he does go out. I'm lucky in that my OH will go out until about midnight and is contactable all night, we regularly text so I know he is ok. He has a Christmas night out in the pipeline which is fine as he will be sensible. If he was going out and getting trashed then I would be really p'd off. As it is he is reluctant to go on a 30 mile cycle ride with his mate this weekend as he doesn't want to be too far away in case I go into labour early ;)

I've had a lazy day, as I've had a lot of discomfort, like period type pains. I've spent all afternoon on the sofa reading and should really get up and do something now. I did go to Mamas and Papas this morning and got myslef a bargain blanket. I was undecided on the gingerbread or the whirlygig. Both had 20% off making them £28, then I had 2 e-gift cards, one for £10 off, the other for £5 off. The girl who served me let me use them bth off the same item, so I opted for the whirlygig and got it for £13 so I'm a happy bunny :) I also bought a bauble for my Christmas tree which says 'My First Christmas 2011' so I can't wait to get my tree now :D

I can't believe we are 2/3 of the way through November and I am still in my flip flops :rotfl:
  • DH is having a couple of drinks each night in the house bump, but thats our "normal" routine when he is home as he doesnt drink at all when away. My concern at the moment with him is he just doesnt get how I need him to stop drinking totally at the moment in case i need to go to hospital, he seems to think baby will stay inside until i get induced. He is still sober after a couple of drinks, but is very much (and im grateful for this) ive had a drink so not driving at all mentality. I think if push came to shove I would drive in rather than wait for a taxi as taxi's are very unreliable round here.

The thing that really annoys me with him at the moment is im still driving as he has a majour sulk everytime i ask him to drive somewhere.
  • Hi ladies, happy Saturday to you all!

I've read back but not much time to post properly so just a couple of quickies from me:

    1. Get a tennis ball for your OHs to roll on your back - makes for a lovely massage.
    2. Heard a great saying the other day "buy cheap, buy twice" so sometimes it is worth splashing out a little.
    3. Loving the idea of 0-1yr thread, was thinking the same! More because it would be weird not to have a little place for us to all stick together after being on here.

    BM :) x

    Evening all.

Bump - don't think you're being unreasonable at all! If he could go and be sensible then fine but I understand why you don't want him to given his track record!!

Gilly, agree with the others, don't let your MIL talk you into getting stuff thats not what you want, my MIL is the opposite and would want me to spend more not less!!

I had a good MSE shopping trip today!

Mum ordered me this cotbed set from M&P:

    http://www.mamasandpapas.com/product-hayworth-package-white/pkha02700/type-i/

And I got a seriously good bargain coat, it was this one from new look:

    http://www.newlook.com/shop/womens/maternity/maternity-swing-coat_222210647

but mine is black and as well as being 50% off I had a voucher for 20% that they let me use so it was £17.99!!!! Slightly better than the £70 I nearly paid for one from dorothy perkins!!!

ANd I got a cot mobile in mothercare that had 20% off. All of the boxes had £35 on except one said £30 so i picked that one up and they put that price in so I got it for £24!!!

Also got a nice hooded towel and flannel set for baby and 2 babygrows that are sleeveless and short legs that will be ideal for warm days in the summer....they were £3 for the set of 2!!!

Oooh and Jannine, incase you're struggling to get teeny stuff for your baby I noticed that boots had a special range for tiny babies....the first size was for up to 3lbs so VERY tiny!!!
