ooooh. According to the M/W who did our antenatal class last week pressure in your bum is a sign that baby is moving down further - its a good thing! You may find that your body tries to um... "empty" everything out down there so that it gives bean a clearer run through and out.
The M/W that did our antenatal said the same about the emptying, although the reasoning behind it was that you don't poo for a couple of days afterwards in order to prevent infection."Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

i told OH i was going to sleep an hour a go, but keep looking on here and googling "pressure in bottom at 39 weeks pregnant!!" but a lot of stupid american sites get all excited and say to definitely ring your doctor as it is definitely labour!! erm... no, i don't think so! does hurt though!
thanks kira, i havent been to any classes, so didnt know that, am hoping the pressure is a good sign, but erm..... think im pretty well emptied, after my mad dash to the loo this morning!! TMI I know!0 -
TMI TMI TMI....Well, the m/w showed a cross section diagram of a very pregnant lady, and you could basically see how there was whopping great big baby in uterus in the middle, with poor bladder squashed tiny one side of the uterus, cervix and exit, and the intestines and back passage squashed on the other side. You could so easily see, how anything in the bladder or lower intestine and back passage would be squeezed and squashed by baby moving down towards and passing it, or cause the obstruction to the baby getting out.. A few bouts of upset tummy immediately before or in early stage labour are really common as an automatic self enema!
Eyeliner, i can see how not needing to poo for a few days afterwards would be a good thing too!Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

I think the majority of people don't realise they've done it, as the midwives are very professional. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

lay down on your left side gilly, or make yourself a cuppa and rest it on your bump between sips, always works for me, HTH0
