I got a similar shock this weekend!

I knew my husband was born at 6lbs 8oz and he was 3 weeks overdue. I was telling my mum about him being small and she said that i was 9lbs (also 3 weeks overdue)! Wasnt impressed!!

BUT... my MIL said that her other two sons were 8-9lbs and they were the easiest to give birth to. She recons low birth weight babies are just as hard to have as big babies.

My OH's mum had 4 and her smallest was 8lb 7oz, I was 5 and a half weeks early and was 6lb. So I'm expecting a big 'un.
The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.
  • Apparently bigger babies are easier to labour as their size helps them push through ..... apparently :o

Thanks, WW, today is my last day! It's strange- I've worked all my life, I know baby will be hard work, but right now, with no baby in my arms, it feels like I'm taking a long holiday. I know reality will soon prove different!

Congrats on reaching ML :j I keep thinking it is going to be really weird to leave work next Friday and know I don't have to go back for aaaaaaaaaages - 4 more working days to go for me :o

We managed to get baby some christmas presents, I know, I know, but they were on offer at argos and we reserved them, when we got there all the prices had gone up by at least 25%, but they had to honour them, and we got a £10 voucher for spending £100!!!! (wasnt all on toys) so bought another little toy, am really pleased! I know baby will only be tiny at Christmas but as his birthday is so close to christmas, by the time he is 6 months old he'll want something to play with.

We've bought Christmas pressies for the baby as s/he will need something to play with throughout the year, even though there is a possibility I might not be induced until Christmas Day

    Grrrr....
Still awake and i'm sooo tired i can hardly focus my eyes. I have hideous acid reflux, i can taste it in my mouth, and every time i lie "down", its all in my throat making me choke. i say lie "down", but that is propped up with 5 pillows. Even tried sitting up on the edge of the bed, propped leaning forward against the wall, but no do's. Rennies and Gaviscon not helping.

Given in and come downstairs for a glass of milk and to try reclining on the sofa. Fingers crossed. Hope the rest of you are sleeping ok.

i hope you managed to sleep kira, i have been awake since 3 when OH's stupid phone buzzed!!! He'll be for it in the morning! I feel a bit sick at the moment, and dont know what to do with myself, am so tired!

Am meant to have a tutorial at ten but really dont want to go, could do with the help though.

Really need to do some tidying and yet more cleaning, washed the moses basket bedding again as didnt feel it was clean enough, need to iron and put that back on. Have downloaded some books to take to hospital with me, to try and help pass the time. I still haven't packed any snaxks for me or OH, I guess I should really. Need to work out how to use the steraliser too, as I've looked at it but have no clues and no instructions as it was second hand. Need OH to look at the pram too see how it all goes together too.

bleugh, goodness i feel sick, i hope it goes soon! Reading back, thinking about it, I don't remember seeing eyeliner.... hope she's ok, although she's definitely not allowed to go into labour yet with me lagging so far behind!!! :)

Sorry I'm just rambling as I don't really know what to do with myself at this stupid time in the morning!!
  • Morning ladies and bumps!!

I actually managed to sleep from 9.30pm - 4.00am, although when I say sleep that means waking every hour to turn over. When OH came to bed he said he could hear me snoring when he was in the lounge downstairs (it's underneath our bedroom)

Baby woke me up at 4.00am, s/he is used to me getting up for cereal at 3am and must have been wondering what was going on :rotfl: I lay in bed for a bit feeling him/her moving around, and since I obviously wasn't getting up s/he started kicking me in the ribs very hard. S/he also seems to have this little trick of pushing his/her feet against my ribs and sliding his/her feet off them - it hurts. I even heard and felt a popping sensation at one point, that sharp got me out of bed :rotfl: Now I've had my cereal s/he has settled again, but I'm wide awake.

Kira, sorry to hear about your acid reflux :( I've been lucky and that is one thing I haven't really suffered from. I've had the occasional night where I've felt it rising in the back of my throat and have had to get up fr a glass of milk, but that has usually done the trick.

I've been lying awake trying to think of baby names, DH and I both kept our own names when we married, and I've always told him my child would have my name, as we both have pretty sucky surnames. I've often thought about changing to Jackson, which is my nanna's name, but most people knew I used to be a big Michael Jackson fan, which would be annoying to explain. I also really like Jackson as a first name for a boy. My other current choice are Sebastian Adam S....... Or Lily Anya S......
I've got a feeling I'm just going to start obsessing about random stuff in the middle of the night for the rest of my pregnancy. 28/40 today!
I'm going to be seeing many friends and acquaintances today, who I should probably tell I'm pregnant, but I find it really hard to spit the words out. I'm already a chunky monkey, so I might just say nothing and let them presume I've just put on weight in my stomach, ironically I've lost about 3 stone since the last time I saw most of them.

    Morning all.

I've slept pretty much the same hours as you, WW. The popping sound- I've said to DH a couple of times I hear it. He never seems to.....
Bump was nice and cute when smaller, but movements haven't slowed. They're every bit as fast, and feel quite violent.... It's weird, I've felt a foot or knee sliding over my ribs a couple of times, and it isn't quite the nicest- not sore but uncomfortable...

I'd been teary on Thursday. Nice and the other guys on that day were the ones I'd thought I got on best with, and none of then were on shift on Friday, my last day. I'd left the office on Thursday night, and no-one said goodbye- I'd felt a bit forgotten about. I know in Nice's case, his wife was in labour (Still is!!).
I was surprised a bit on Friday, all the nice guys came in, and Nice himself stopped by to leave in a gift voucher for Mothercare from them all and gave me a quick hug. One of the guys who'd been on Thursday asked me to stop by his desk when I finished- in a building a mile from mine- and gave me a hug also and chatted a bit, told me not to be scared, etc....
Really, it wasn't any of the guys fault I felt a bit down on Thursday, I just kept feeling very uncertain all this week- Mat leave imminent, and all feeling very, very real, and I keep veering between being excited and scared.... :)

It's bizarre isn't it? I thought I'd be shouting it from the rooftops but apart from close friends and family I found it hard to tell people, like work colleagues and acquaintances. In fact I didn't bother, I just let word get around, and then put a scan pic on facebook for anyone else who didn't know.
