Which iron supplements are you taking? My M/w told me to steer clear of the tablet forms as they tend to make you feel sick and give you digestive probs. She advised me to take Spatone, which is in liquid form so is more easily digested, and if you mix it with OJ, tastes ok! I was really sick from the iron in the supplements i took early on, but i've been fine with the spatone.
I started off with Fersaday tablets, then tried Fersamal? syrup. I've got some samples of Spatone that they very kindly sent me to try, just waiting till the syrup is definitely out of my system before I start it. Each time, I took 2 or 3 doses, then had several days of dodgy stomach as it passed through. :lipsrseal
When I saw the doc the other day, he agreed iron supplements are horrible, he hadn't heard of Spatone though, which was what I asked him about. He did say that my iron didn't look too bad and just take what I could. So no idea why the midwife not only gave me the tablets, but told me to have 2 a day!0 -

I got mine from boots - http://www.boots.com/en/Boots-Arnica-30c-84-Pillules_845540/
And the unscented oil I linked earlier incase you missed it - I dont have any essential oil stuff.

Lavender is a stimulant for labour and should not be used during most of pregnancy but can be had near the end as its safer then - so may be worth trying if you want to bring on your labour?
perfect thanks my lovelymay well go into the city tomorrow then, am intending on having a lovely long bath before OH gets home tomorrow evening, so will shove a load of lavender in whilst drinking rasp leaf tea, then Im going to 'make' OH dtd, and see whether that does anything

I know the lavender is fine for you to use now - im 30+4 and about a week or two ago I had a massage - I have been going to her for years and she know plenty about what you can and can not use in pregnancy. She put 1 drop of lavender oil in and in a few weeks I can have some more drops.
BTW Lavender is also good for healing - so pre pregnancy if I ever had back trouble and had a massage lavender was always used as it helps to heal. During pregnancy a good oil to use for massage is almond oil but its not as good a healer as lavender.
Why is it all the stuff you need to help heal etc you can not use during pregnancy - just when you need it! Lavender and ibuprofen being the 1st 2 that come to mind!:T baby boy born 01/01/2012 my New Years Day Boy

EEk! I'm sure that the M/W mentioned that Fersaday tablets gave people alot of problems! My levels arent too bad so with spatone, i take it once a week, mixed into OJ, cos you need vit c to absorb the iron, and makes it taste better too. My inner eye lids have turned from pale to pink since starting to take it, which is good!Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

They are evil things, and I think the syrup was just the same stuff in liquid form, tasted like drinking rust or blood. :lipsrseal I'm quite annoyed really, as the midwife made out I really needed the supplements, and then the doc told me I was about average for a pregnant lady. I've got both the plain Spatone and the apple flavoured one to try, so if it goes down ok, I'll just buy a box to have occasionally, I won't bother with loads.
Lol, I said to the other half I'd been given iron, and first thing he did was checked my eyelids, I did wonder what he was looking for.0 -
Aimless, sounds like a good plan to me. If your levels are about average, then you shouldnt need to take loads of it anyway! I have tried it by itself , and its not vile but not pleasant, hence why i followed the M/W advice to use OJ! Anything with Vit C in it (apple juice for the apple flavour one maybe?) should be a good base to mix it into.Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

If you trying to stimulate labour its clary sage oil.
Either by adding a few drops on a tissue and inhaling, a few drops in your bath or mixing 3 drops per 10ml of carrier oil and massaging your bump, lower back and buttocks.
Also Jasmine.
Lavender is a good one to use IN labour as its relaxing and is thought to reduce pain sensation, its also safe for babies so no worries about it harming your little one if your a bit oily or the room smells a bit lavendery.Little Person Number 4 Due March 2012
