Are you sure it is only £250? When we did PhD (registered as MPhil first, we got about £700 a month, and couple other students in our group got well over £1000 (depends on funding). Check with university - they often have heavily subsidised nurseries for studens/staff. And see if there are any burseries/grants OH could apply for at uni as well.
Yes, very sureIt's actually £500 a month, but he has to pay his student fees out of that which leaves about £250.
If he can find more funding he can give himself payrises....
It's not a very rich unversity, so in-house funding is quite limited, but we'll look into grants etc, thanks. No nursery, they do the childcare vouchers though, so that will help a bit. DH won't qualify for them due to income, but I will (we will be working at different sites but for the same uni).
Good luck with your physio Lirin!
My Dad's getting us baby bedding as a Christmas present, but I said we're happy with an IOU and we can wait until the January sales to buy them.0 -
Can ask about others experiences of SPD?
My pain is centred in my pelvic arch and coxics, with the occasional sciatica pain in my right bum cheek. I don't really have pain in my hips other than occassionally numb/pins and needles on the skin on my hips, not the bone.
My consultant said 25/40 is too early for SPD. I've had this intensifying pain since 16/40.
It is more painful when I walk, climb stars, get in our out of a car and turn over in bed. Keeping my legs together when moving helps as does a pillow when sleeping.
Does this sound like your experiences?:ANeeding to save all the money, lots of MSE learning still to do

Thanks.... I've managed to arrange pretty much every appointment up until now for first thing, but have consultant on Wed late morning, and Physio on Thurs early afternoon, and Fri booked off- I guess they're feeling a little cheesed off. But barring one midwife's app, that's all I have until I'm on maternity....0

Whoever asked about childcare - DDs nursery take from 6 weeks
My colleague's daughter had the same thing, she was measuring small but the baby was measuring completely average on the scan, so you're probably just like she is, her bump was just well hidden somewhere! Her baby's due this Friday, and I'm told her bump is a similar size to mine (at 25 weeks).0 -
i am not bothered by baby measuring big i know there is loads of fluid from the 3d scan but i wouldnt mind a growth scan as i know my mum would like to come to a scan with me!:j Proud mum to Jade age 10 years and Baby Ellie born Christmas Day:eek: with a broke heart

Your consultant is talking rubbish! I had SPD with DS2 from 16 weeks! This one has been from around 28 weeks but is worse. I'm hardly able to walk now but I'm delivering Thursday so the end is in sight. Keeping your legs together when getting out the car etc and using a pillow when sleeping will help lots. There's not much else you can do apart from get a physio appointmentThank you to everyone for sharing competitions!0 -

oh hugs mimi- dont you love it when they say dont worry!! like that is possible. baby is probably lying funny so you have any idea what way baby is lying?
on a positive note you get to see baby on the scan! hope all is well. i would assume baby is fine if she is moving and kicking thats what i tend to go by:j Proud mum to Jade age 10 years and Baby Ellie born Christmas Day:eek: with a broke heartProven to be a little fighter and battling on with her heart condition :j

talking of big babies, does anyone know what happens if at my 38 week MW appt the baby is measuring over 3cm big? Do they induce you or send you for a growth scan, am panicing a bit as my appt is next week and my bump was 38 last week and it just seems to be getting bigger by the day, would measure it but i dont quite know where to measure to and from.0

Carmilla- yes, it does sound like mine.
Sometimes I'm fine and can move alright, other times I would have a stabbing pain on one side of my pelvis, and it feels like it's grinding (Sorry). Most times, I couldn't take huge steps as it would hurt in between my legs. Turning over in bed is sore, sitting and standing initially can be sore.
Climbing stairs hurts, but for some reason, descending is usually alright. I have to get DH to help me stand, or lift my legs over the bath so I can shower. I take co-codamol which seems to take the edge from it.
Mine's pingy in the mornings usually, ok-ish all day, and hurts like hell later on at night. I'm lucky in that I seem to have only a couple of bad days each week- last week, for example, I was hiding tears on Thursday and had a few co-codamol over the day, was fine most of Friday, and hurt like hell again on Saturday.
Sometimes I can walk fine, other times it's a shuffle!
Back pain- had been complaining from 5 weeks....
Midwife said she suspected it from just around 20 weeks, was told it was most likely by hospital and referred for physio when I cracked my pelvis the other week....
Ask them again, and have a chat with the midwife?0 -

They might send you for a growth scan hun. Measurements are so inaccurate though to be honest when they use the tape measure. It doesn't take into account baby's position or the amount of fluid etc. They didn't bother measuring me as I had growth scans.Thank you to everyone for sharing competitions!0
