Can anyone give me some points about where I go to look at funding available for childcare? I'm only taking 2 months off as we can't afford to do otherwise, and DH has just been offered a 1 year studentship for MPhil... so there goes our plans for him to be a househusband, though I'm really pleased for him. Problem is his take-home will be about £250 a month, so it won't even come close to paying nursary fees. Will places even take babies at 6-8 weeks old????

Are you sure it is only £250? When we did PhD (registered as MPhil first, we got about £700 a month, and couple other students in our group got well over £1000 (depends on funding). Check with university - they often have heavily subsidised nurseries for studens/staff. And see if there are any burseries/grants OH could apply for at uni as well.

Sorry to butt in ladies but after clearing out some stuff, I have come across some pregnancy essentials that one of you mum-to-be's might be able to make use off. Some breast pads, a couple of pairs of maternity pants size 12-14 I think (still wrapped up) and some maternity pads too. If anyone can make use of them, I'd be happy to pass them on and help you to save a few pennies. Just PM you address and I'll get them off to you soon.

Good luck and labour vibes to all those approaching the final stages.

i second that raven i remember with dd1 we used loads of blankets. for her to sleep, in the pram, in the car, for naked time all ended up needing washing a lot as she was sick, wee, or pooped on them! babies you gotta love them!

    Gah...

Just because I'm not crying in pain every second doesn't mean I'm not bothered by SPD. I'm reasonably fine today, a few twinges. Yestarday, DH had to help me off the sofa, and help me in/out of the shower....

My work have queried the time of my physio appointment and asked if I could reschedule til Friday which I have booked off. Reasonable enough, except I already tried that and was told the physio dept only runs Tue-Thur when I phoned.... apparantly physio apps are hard to get (not really surprising, tbh, if they only run 3 days of the week!). They've asked if I can confirm whether I'll be down after- but I don't honestly know! It's an afternoon appointment, and was told it would last an hour. 20 mins travel to work. If it starts on the button and lasts 1hr and 20mins travel, it'll leave me with just under 2 hours work, which is fine, I'll travel down.
If it doesn't start on time or overruns- frankly, it's going to make it pretty pointless me going back....

I just have a feeling this will be an awkward one. I've said I'll phone when it's done, and see what happens- I can't really do any more!

When did your belly buttons become outties and not innies? Mine is still an innie.

I'm 33 weeks and mine is still an innie, admittedly a very small innie. I hope it doesn't pop out!

I freaked DSD out- she was trying to put her finger in my bellybutton as it's went very tiny.... I told her to be careful or baby might pop out my bellybutton- just as I said that baby gave a little punch. I've never seen DSD move so fast......

i went to the midwifes this morning and i am measuring big. i am 32 weeks and my bump is measuring 35cm and she said it should be 31cm so it is quite a bit bigger in her words. also i am recess (sorry probably spelt wrong) negitive so had to have a jab. i dont really understand why but she said my body could fight against baby! dont like the sound of that! i feel a bit like a failure how can my body be against my babies made me feel very sad

If you are 32 weeks then you should be measuring 32cm. According t my midwife anything up t 3cm over or under is ok because baby may have just had a growth spurt. Don't upset yourself over being rhesus negative, lots of women are and it is easily treat with the injection.

I didn't make it to work today, I am just so exhausted after weeks of little sleep. It has finally caught up with me and I feel like I've been hit by a truck :( My mam has been to check up on me and measure up fr curtains in the nursery, then OH has been home in his lunch break to see how I am. I've been back to bed for naps but still feel poo, so I've opened the tin of Christmas Quality Street :p
  • Been to midwife, she measured me - bumps not growing properly :-( have a scan next week, and another midwife appointment. They said because bumps kicking I shouldn't worry - easier said than done :-(

Whoever asked about childcare - DDs nursery take from 6 weeks
